As the dust settles in the FIBA World Cup 2023, Dennis Schroder has made history and emerged as an MVP of the tournament for his incredible performance. The 29 YO Raptor’s guard has just added another feather to his cap. Despite his complicated relationship with the LA Lakers, King James has applauded him for achieving big in the World Cup.

Schroder was traded to the Lakers in 2020 and had a solid season. He averaged 15.4 points and 5.8 assists per game. However, he was a restricted free agent at the end of the season and the Lakers could not agree to a contract extension with him. Schroder eventually signed a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics for $5.9 million.

In 2022, Schroder returned to the Lakers on a one-year, $2.64 million deal. He played well in the regular season, averaging 12.6 points and 4.5 assists per game. However, he was inconsistent in the playoffs and was benched in the Western Conference Finals. Bron’s praise was expected, given their shared history.

After the season, Schroder signed a two-year, $26 million deal with the Toronto Raptors. He is now reunited with former Lakers assistant coach Adrian Griffin, who is the Raptors’ head coach. After winning the highest title in the World Cup, Shroder is set to return to the NBA ahead of the season.
