8x NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving emerged as a hot prospect in the offseason until the Dallas Mavericks lunged forward and re-signed the star baller. Apart from basketball action, the star has also been through a lot of drama off the court because of his anti-Semitic beliefs. Moreover, it hurt him to an extent where he lost a multi-million dollar contract. However, as a sign of validation, a 7 ‘1 giant donned Uncle Drew’s special product in the NBA Summer League.

Besides losing contracts for his anti-Semitic beliefs, Irving also faced a suspension from the league during the initial stages of the 2022-23 regular season. After he returned to the hardwood from suspension, he again found himself amidst controversy when he forced a trade out of the Brooklyn Nets. Despite all the drama, Irving didn’t lose his fan following as his recent tweet stands as a proof.

After the anti-Semitic belief controversy, the $160.55 billion worth, Nike shut their door at Kyrie Irving and stopped his shoe line. Following the incident, the star covered the Nike logo of his shoes whenever he stepped into the hardwood. He has now found a supporter in the Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren. The star sported Irving’s first-ever signature shoe during the summer league.

Holmgren, the second overall pick of 2022 NBA Draft, missed the 2022-23 season because of an injury in the right foot last summer. After a frustrating year, the 21-year-old rising star laced up his shoes again for the Thunder in the summer league against Utah Jazz. Notably, he laced up Kyrie 1, a nine-year-old product of Irving’s shoe line.

While fans expected Irving’s Nike shoe line to vanish in the coming years, Holmgren brought it back to the limelight.
