The lights were shining brightly at the Madison Square Garden. The New York Knicks extended their prolific run since adding OG Anunoby to the roster. Led by the brilliance of Jalen Brunson, who scored 41, the Knicks barely survived against the Washington Wizards winning 113-109. It marks their eighth win in the last ten games, the second-best record in the NBA for that given span.

The MSG crowd loved every second of the heavily contested battle. Until Brunson’s 20-point fourth-quarter explosion, no result was certain. Luckily for the home crowd, they went home with smiles on their faces. But one person’s happiness mostly comes at the cost of another’s sorrow, especially in the world of sports.

For the Wizards, it was their 33rd loss of the season. The tandem of Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole, which was glued with immense hype, has failed to realize its potential. Kuz could only manage to score 15. However, he did get the opportunity to catch up with his Twinski’.

Kyle Kuzma and Coi Leray meet after the game

It was a night of basketball in New York. Unsurprisingly, the stars were out in numbers at the Madison Square Garden. Among the crowd was popular record artist, Coi Leray. The Boston musician shares a similar love to that of Kyle Kuzma. Both of them are making waves in the fashion industry. While Kuz is known for his over-the-top and unique pregame fits, Leray carries the weight of being of true trendsetter in the world of fashion.

The pair have been to parties before. Leray is even mates with the Wizards forward’s supermodel girlfriend, Winnie Harlow.

As far as his job goes, it wasn’t a night that would run on repeat in Kuzma’s mind. The Knicks’ defense took away any advantage the wiry forward could have used to make an impact on the game. The combination of Anunoby and Randle posed the challenge of countering size, strength, and speed to Kuzma. It was simply too much.

However, after the game, the 6’9″ did find some relief when he met up with his friend, Coi Leray. The pair were snapped having a conversation after the game. Leray even shares a snap of the moment on her Instagram. In an attempt to cheer him up, she wrote, “Kuz your the f*****g GOAT”. Kyle Kuzma appreciated the sweet sentiment and dedicated a story in return with the caption “Twinski”.

The Wizards need to rethink their strategies

When Poole was announced to be a Wizard, it came with certain expectations. Poole was heralded to be a 20+ point scorer now that he had his own offense. Moreover, he was supposed to make the game easier for Kuzma by drawing the defenses and opening up space. However, we were quick to discover that the predictions were far from accurate.

Jordan Poole hasn’t been the dexterous offensive engine Washington was hoping for. The franchise is lurking in the bottom third of the Eastern Conference for the third consecutive season.

The only chance they have at recovery could be the trade deadline. The front office has until February 8 to make some moves and move toward their goal of developing for the future. Kyle Kuzma seems to be the adequate candidate over Poole to keep the keys of the franchise. Given the former Warriors guard hasn’t been the push the Wizards needed, maybe they could experiment and be open to trading him in hopes of getting a more suitable player besides Kuz.

The Wizards don’t have anything left to lose this season. They have the second-worst record in the conference and are miles off from being a playoff team. Maybe, if they view the trade deadline as an opportunity to test out a lineup for the future, that’s the road they should walk.
