Kyrie Irving is now re-signed on the Dallas Mavericks roster. He had earlier been on the Boston Celtics?and the Brooklyn Nets rosters and didn’t have the best of times there. So with Irving joining Luka Doncic at the Mavericks, questions arise about whether it makes sense to get him in the fold.

Kyrie, though, has been in numerous controversies both on and off the court. When he was playing for the?Nets in 2019, he was suspended for five games without pay for one of his polarizing tweets. He also lost a sponsorship deal in the process. But Irving has the numbers and the accolades to back him.

The NBA champion is one of only nine players in NBA history to achieve a rare 50/4o/90 season stat. He also has impressive shooting percentages of 92.2% percent from the free-throw line, 40.2% from 3-pointers, and 50.6% on field goals overall.

Mark Cuban defends Irving’s retention

In a recent interaction, Cuban was asked about the logic behind signing up Irving back into the Mavericks fold. He replied, “Kyrie just loves basketball. So no, I wasn’t concerned about that. We traded for him because we wanted him to be a long-term piece,”?the Mavericks owner said.

“But I think Kyrie is just misunderstood. Everybody sees the noise around, but when you actually talk to him, I like him. You know, he’s open, he’s smart, he’s always looking to learn things. To me, he’s just an interesting guy who is misunderstood,” he added.

So, it’s no secret that Cuban holds?Irving and his game in high regard. The Doncic-Irving duo is something that fans will be looking out for. And the better the camaraderie between them, the better for Dallas Mavericks.
