Zion Williamson has been among the biggest surprises of this preseason mania. The 23-year-old star has shown immense dedication, something he was being blasted for the lack of earlier. Now, we have seen a more athletic Williamson, going by his appearance. Although he has shown an insane physical transformation, seems like not everyone is happy with him.

After an underwhelming last season that involved a ton of controversies to his name, Williamson looks ready for this new season. However, he has yet to impress his own team, the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite all that, there is an emergence of new interest in the 2x All-Star from a $6.58 billion franchise.

There has been a lot of buzz around the young star. Right from the time when he was the 1st overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, Williamson was touted to be great. However, as the season unfolded, the star couldn’t manage to live up to the hype.

In fact, very early in his career, he saw the other side of fame. After constantly being mocked and trolled, either on TV or the internet, Williamson’s prowess as an athlete was constantly questioned. Largely due to him participating in a very limited number of games, underperforming, and being overweight for an athlete.

However, it seems like last season’s controversies and image tarnishing have added ammo to his drive. Now a healthier Williamson is ready to show his mettle as a baller in the coming season. Amidst the anticipation, a new interest in the 23 YO has emerged from the New York Knicks. Reportedly, the Knicks are looking to bring the 2x All-Star on board. In fact, the Knicks had also checked up on Williamson during the off-season.

As previously reported by several insiders, the trade back in June 2023 looked like a possibility, but the Pelicans put an end to it at the time.

Zion Williamson is still a key asset

The Pelicans will be looking forward to present a strong title contender case this season. In that plan, the importance of Williamson, at least on paper for now, is immense. However, it has been reported that “New Orleans is still not sold on Zion Williamson. Obviously, there’s a risk there, all eyes on him this season.” Being one of their star players, the 23 YO has a lot of responsibilities to take care of.
