NBA stars wear their names on the back of their jerseys, and some even wear theirs on their feet. Some of the biggies in the NBA have their signature line of sneakers now. Given the media presence and massive fan following, brands now seem to associate their brand with the player’s performance in the league. Paul George also has a signature line in collaboration with Nike in his name. After releasing five sets of PG basketball shoes, the PG6 was last launched.

Paul George on Anthony Edward’s commercial

In a recent podcast on his channel, the star guard of the Los Angeles Clippers commented on a rival brand’s commercial. Despite his deal with Nike, George mentioned Edward’s Addidas commercial in a discussion with Dallas Rutherford and Jackie Long, which is astonishing. Paul said, “I liked how he had the commercial pulling everybody’s shoes out. Like no, these ain’t it, these ain’t it, these ain’t it, and then finally he pulls his shoes out, and, oh yeah, these right here.”

Inspired by the “banned” Michael Jordan advertisement, Anthony Edwards’ new advertisement promoting his AE1 was discussed on the podcast. This discussion sheds light on how PG13 played the last season in Kobe 6 Proto from Kobe’s brand while he had his signature line after signing a deal with Nike.

Paul George and the Nike deal

Early this year, around January, there were rumors of an end to the collaboration between Paul George and Nike. The Nike PG6 shoes seemed to be the last one from his signature line, as reported by an Instagram account @13Flavors. The Instagram handle presented a close analysis of George’s kicks along with updates on the recent launches. Since there is no comment from either Paul George or the brand, this news is labeled as a rumor.

However, how the ‘Book1’ replaced the $110 PGs since Nike rewarded Booker with his exclusive pair of signature shoes, which just adds to the rumor. Not only that, when the ‘bubble face’ chose to spice things up when posting a video on Instagram about the launch, the act indeed hints towards how the deal with the former has reached an end. The comment was, “They got rid of the PG (Paul George) line for this?”
