During Devin Booker’s explosive night, Kevin Durant took a small trip down memory lane. The Phoenix Suns‘ star guard decimated the New Orleans Pelicans with a 52-point outing to take the team to a comfortable 111-124 victory. Speaking of Booker’s performance after the game, KD revealed his déjà vu moment and heaped praise on the 27-year-old guard for his laid-back assassination on the Pelicans.

In this season, the Suns took on the Pelicans at Nola two times. On both occasions, D-Book dropped 52 points to take home a comfortable victory. Following the game, a reporter asked KD about Booker’s back-to-back 50-pointers against Zion Williamson & Co., where Kevin enthusiastically said, ” Yeah, it was like déjà vu. As it was happening, I couldn’t believe he was doing it again… that’s the sign of an otherworldly scorer.”

Kevin Durant didn’t stop at that. He further went on to praise Devin Booker on his ‘zen mode-like’ attitude while sinking buckets. One of the reporters KD asked if he had similar performances like that. KD immediately reverted, saying, “No, not like that… He was in his zone. He was in his own world… When you are totally in that zen mode where nothing really matters. Everything just happens effortlessly and we can feel that as a teammate too.”

While KD denied that he hasn’t made a similar performance, he has a special one from this season itself. KD impressed the Suns family with a fourth-quarter comeback against the Sac Town orchestrating a 22-point chasedown. Speaking of the game, Booker said, “It’s like a video game. Just feels like I’m part of.” Nevertheless, D-Book pulled off a similar run in the first quarter.

In the first quarter, Booker dished out 24 points, one point short of the first-quarter score from the last outing. Moreover, Booker didn’t just restrict himself from dishing out buckets but also did the point guard duties. He recorded 9 assists, carrying his team along with his high-scoring night.

The Suns have another game against the Pelicans left on their schedule. While Booker decimated the Pelicans twice in their home, this time, he would face them at the Footprint Arena.

More than just the ‘deja vu’ aspect, the upcoming game has more significance. Currently, the Pelicans and Suns are in the 6th and 7th spots, respectively, and the Valley side is just one win away from pulling down the Pelicans. The Suns would look to close the regular season, evading their play-in contention.
