The internet was thrown into a frenzy today after a bizarre claim linked hip-hop superstar Megan Thee Stallion to the Dallas Mavericks, but not for something you might think of. It wasn’t for a halftime performance or a courtside appearance, but allegedly, it was for being banned from attending Mavs home games. The claim spread quickly, confusing fans and sparking attention across NBA and pop culture circles.

At the center of the chaos was an X post, which boldly declared, “BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks have banned Megan Thee Stallion from all home games.” At the time of writing, the post had over 560,000 views and prompted speculation amongst fans about whether something serious had gone down between the franchise and the Grammy-winning artist.

However, the reality is far less dramatic. So far, there have been no official statements from Dallas, the NBA, or Megan’s representative about any kind of restriction. Moreover, the post is from @spectatorinbox, whose bio reads, “Independent updates on parody & satire global news and other questionable information.” So, the information is likely baseless.

Megan has made multiple appearances at Mavericks games already this season, including a highly publicized preseason appearance against the Lakers. The rapper was at the Las Vegas game to support her partner, Mavs shooting guard Klay Thompson, after they hard-launched their relationship this offseason. Megan was present there with Klay’s mother, Julie Thompson.

Megan has had high expectations of her boyfriend, and previously, before a matchup against OKC, after being asked how many points she expected him to drop, said, “He better drop all them M———ers. No, he’s gonna do his best.” Unfortunately, Thompson has struggled to start the season, connecting on just 28.6% of his threes. However, none of this is linked to Megan, who has supported her partner every step of the way.

That humor was on full display recently as Megan and Klay dropped a “food review” on her Instagram story. Sitting beside Thompson, she teased, “I am about to make Klay a food review,” before bringing out lobster rolls.

Klay declared that he “love[d] it,” before Megan shot an unimpressed look, prompting him to joke, “She’s not impressed.” The moment captured their lighthearted interactions perfectly, and fans can’t get enough of them.

Megan’s flair for food doesn’t stop at home. Even at the Met Gala, she managed to sneak in a review with WNBA superstar Angel Reese and rapper Doechii, sampling various dishes and dishing out judgments over hits and misses. Back home, Klay remains her most loyal tester.

His favorite meal? Catfish and spaghetti with Hawaiian rolls. In one video with Megan, the Mavs guard said, “So good. Flawless… It is the best thing I’ve ever tasted.” Megan found it extremely funny, captioning her post, “Out of everything I’ve cooked for him so far, he keeps asking for spaghetti and catfish 😂🍝.

Whether in the kitchen or courtside, their bond seems to thrive on love, laughter, and a healthy dose of playfulness.
