Phoenix Suns star Dillon Brooks doesn’t shy away from a tussle, whether it’s on the internet or on the court. So it is always surprising to hear him say something good about anyone. He is extremely outspoken and has strong opinions about a lot of things in and around the league. Hence, he is not always liked by the NBA fans. But recently, one of his opinions became viral as the majority in the NBA fraternity agreed with it.

Brooks appeared in the recent livestream with influencer N3on, where he was asked about the hardest player that he has guarded in the NBA. His immediate answer was Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic, which came as a shocker for many. “Luka. He’s got that quick first step, and then once he got you on his back or on his hip, it’s like, you’re kind of at his mercy,” Brooks stated. “He has countless moves like step-throughs, fadeaways,…”

This came as a shocker for many, as in the same stream, he labelled Luka Doncic’s teammate, LeBron James, as ‘the most overrated player’ in the NBA. The Canadian forward’s rivalry with LeBron has been brewing for years, and this season tempers blew higher than ever as the duo had an altercation. Currently, Brooks holds a 2-1 advantage over the 41-year-old, but the story is far from over as both teams will face off again later this month.
But having said that, Brooks is probably being his honest self in hyping Doncic. The forward has had several bouts against the Slovenian in the past, and on most occasions, he has ended on the wrong side. Doncic averages 29.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.1 assists across 12 games in his career against Dillon Brooks, highlighting his dominance over the Canadian. Interestingly, the Lakers star has never scored less than 20 points against Brooks in any matchup until now.
Overall, his drastic opinion on two of the biggest stars on the current Lakers roster is extremely fascinating.

Brooks labels Luka Doncic’s blockbuster trade to the Lakers as sketchy
Dillon Brooks holds Doncic in very high regard, but he expressed some scepticism around the Slovenian’s trade to the Lakers. It was indeed a shocker for the entirety of the NBA fraternity as none could imagine the Dallas Mavericks letting go of the face of their franchise. Doncic moved to Los Angeles in February last year in a three-team trade.

He moved to the Lakers along with Markeiff Morris and Maxi Kleber in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round pick. Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz received Jalen Hood-Schifino and two second-round picks.
In the same livestream, Brooks and N3on were jokingly discussing Doncic’s trade to the Lakers. “You seen with Luka. They just traded him,” Brooks said. N3on replied with, “That was umm… some sketchy s**t over there,” and hesitated to comment further. Brooks just smirked and laughed, keeping the moment light-hearted.

Looking back on the trade, the Lakers were the outright winners as they secured Doncic, a perfect candidate to be the face of the franchise and allowed them to make a smooth transition from LeBron James. There’s no doubt in Anthony Davis’ ability when healthy, but the big man has struggled to remain fit ever since moving to Dallas. He is currently out with a ligament injury in his left hand. Overall, Davis has missed 29 out of the 49 games played by the Mavericks this season.
