Draymond Green has not been having the best season. To start the season, while trying to save his teammate Klay Thompson, he hit Rudy Gobert in the face, resulting in a suspension. However, it didn’t stop there. Shortly after returning, Green hit Suns center Jusuf Nurkić in the face and was suspended for the second time in the season. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors are struggling like never before, despite Dray being reinstated by the league. Now, his season has a final blow to offer him.

According to Tim Reynolds’s post on X (formerly Twitter), “Grant Hill says Draymond Green is a part of USA Basketball’s legacy, but he just felt it best to not have him in the Olympic pool this time.” This news is especially tragic considering it would have been the last Rodeo for Green with all-time greats like Kevin Durant and LeBron James while being able to represent Team USA.

On Wednesday, Grant Hill, the managing director of the men’s national team, clarified the exclusion of Draymond Green from the list of 41 potential players for the Paris Games. Hill commended Green’s past contributions to the national team, highlighting his instrumental role in securing Olympic gold in 2016 and 2021. Hill, an NBA legend himself, further clarified, “We at USA Basketball, we want to support him on his journey. We just didn’t feel that playing over the summer gives him the best opportunity to do what he needs to do.” The timing of Green’s omission right now is interesting concerning his comments about Kevin Durant.

What did Draymond Green say about KD’s place in the GOAT debate?

Lately, discussions about the greatest of all time (GOAT) have included Steph Curry, but interestingly, Durant is noticeably excluded from these conversations. Green has shared his thoughts on this matter in the Draymond Green show. “Steph [Curry] didn’t get the credit that Steph gets today until 2022 when he led this team [Warriors] to a championship and won a Finals MVP. When all else was failing, Steph said, ‘Alright, fellas, come on, let’s go there.’ Period. You gotta do what Steph did to get to that conversation,” said Dray.

Despite pointing out that Durant is “one of the greatest scorers we’ve ever seen,” and that ” there’s no championship that’s not real”, one has to concede the team dynamics would be interesting, considering his recent comments about Durant. However, do you think he is right? Can Team USA triumph without Green?
