Phoenix Suns hosted the Denver Nuggets and faced disappointing results as they lost 119-111. Nikola Jokic was crafty for the Nuggets, registering 21 points and 16 assists. Reggie Jackson added 20 points and Michael Porter tallied 19 points. Despite the brave show by Kevin Durant and Jusuf Nurkic, the Phoenix Suns could not stop the onslaught by the Nuggets.

Durant finished the game with 30 points and 11 assists. Also, he blocked three shots. Nurkic’s tally stood at 31 points. The two paired together for the Suns without Devin Booker in the ranks, who suffered a sprained right ankle against the Toronto Raptors. In the match, Durant carved his name in the annals of NBA history but was selfless enough to be disappointed for Nurkic.

Durant passed the Hall of Famer Moses Malone’s 27,409 points to enter the list of top ten NBA scorers. He has 27,424 points in his kitty after the match against the Nuggets. But despite achieving the milestone, he felt bad for the Bosnian star’s performance not ending up in victory.

Nurkic played for 33 minutes and tallied 31 points with 13-22 FG, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. The stunning display of skill and hard work went in vain. Expressing frustration over the same, Durant said, “I’m mad we wasted that game from him.”

Showing concern in the media for the teammate wasn’t just a spontaneous act of generosity. The two Phoenix stars have been building relationships on and off the court.

Durant felt the Suns didn’t do enough to earn a victory for Nurkic. Previously, he said how much Nurkic does for the team. In a press conference recently, Durant said when Nurkic’s performance comes in handy for the team, “When he’s hitting 3s, the team goes to another level.”

But the bromance between the two is not confined to the statements in the press alone. Suns got Nurkic from Portland in a deal that saw DeAndre Ayton going to Blazers and Damian Lillard moving to Milwaukee. The Bosnian star seems to be enjoying the stay at Phoenix. Recently, Nurkic was playing Pick and Roll with Devin Booker and found Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal on the floor of the team practice facility.
