The Indiana Pacers made a dream run to the NBA Finals last season, riding high on a team built on chemistry. While the Pacers did not have superstars across the board, they did have players like Tyrese Haliburton and a few more talented players. Among them was none other than Aaron Nesmith. The 25-year-old forward impressed everyone with his incredible perimeter defense and elite 43.1% three-point shooting. The same key contributor is now back in the headlines.

The Pacers’ No. 23 caught more than just the fans’ attention this time. Recently, a post on X from an account named ‘Yeah Yeah!’ claimed that Nesmith received a shoutout on pop superstar Taylor Swift’s latest album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl‘. Of course, as soon as the claim hit the internet, fans couldn’t help but get excited, but is this actually true? Did Taylor Swift mention Aaron Nesmith in her new album?

Is it true that Taylor Swift referenced Indiana’s Aaron Nesmith on her latest album?

Well, according to the post on X, Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl‘ features an Indiana Pacers reference. Now, although the tweet did not specify which song mentioned Nesmith, it did reveal the alleged lyrics. “He knows I’m the best girl that he’ll ever be with, feeling 23 again like I’m Aaron Nesmith,” the lyrics read as per the post. So, are these lines from an actual song written by the Pop icon? Sorry to disappoint you, Pacers and Aaron Nesmith fans, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The EssentiallySports fact-check team sat down to decode the lyrics. Safe to say there’s no Aaron, no Nesmith. We didn’t find Swift referencing the Pacers forward in any of the 12 songs on her latest album. In fact, we were unable to find anything close to the above-mentioned lines on the artist’s 12th studio album. So, it’s safe to say that the claims made by this post were either fake or maybe it’s a parody account. Either way, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise because the duo, Nesmith and Swift, have no common links.

While the Grammy-winning singer has sporting links, she doesn’t seem to have any relationship with the Pacers star. Swift recently got engaged to the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce. Nonetheless, even though the 25-year-old forward might’ve missed out on a lifetime opportunity of getting his name mentioned on a Taylor Swift song, there might be other good news for Aaron Nesmith. Reports suggest that the Indiana Pacers are on the verge of handing him an extension.

Insider predicts Aaron Nesmith’s future in Indianapolis

Aaron Nesmith has been one of the key guys for the Indiana Pacers, and he’s soon due for a hefty payday. Right now, the former Vanderbilt standout is on a three-year, $33 million deal with the NBA finalists, a deal that is set to run until the 2026-27 season. This is a number that is set to rise, according to Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey, given that the 25-year-old is now eligible for an extension. He thinks that the franchise, who consider Nesmith as a core member of its roster, will offer him a three-year deal worth around $70 million.

This is a steep rise from his current deal, which sees him make around $11 million per season. Bailey thinks, “Aaron Nesmith is far from a star, but during his time with the Indiana Pacers, he’s earned a solid payday. Over those three seasons, Nesmith has averaged 11.3 points and 1.8 threes, while shooting 40.2 percent from deep,” he wrote. There’s no doubt that while Tyrese Haliburton might be the franchise player, Nesmith is also an important player for the Pacers.

More so, after Indiana witnessed his elite 49.2% three-point shooting in the postseason, playing 23 games. He was so good that it seemed like Nesmith netted every clutch three-pointer shot that was presented to him. Nonetheless, these are mere speculations for now, as the historic franchise is yet to comment on Aaron Nesmith’s extension. But it’s hard to imagine the organization not offering him a deal, especially with Haliburton out for most of the season, as we eagerly await seeing Nesmith back in action this season.
