Does the FIBA World Cup have MVP and Finals MVP?

As the 2023 FIBA World Cup is around the corner, the Team USA fans gear up for redemption for their 2019 disastrous outing. The team led by stars like Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell fell short in the quarter-finals against France. However, Spain went on to win the World Cup and Spain’s Ricky Rubio won the MVP award. Moreover, Marc Gasol became the first non-American to win both NBA and FIBA WC in the same year.

The FIBA WC sure does have an MVP award but not the Finals MVP award. While the tournament officials decide the MVP award based on the player’s performance, NBA has a different approach. After the completion of the Finals game, a panel of 11 media members vote for their most valuable players, and the player with most votes wins the award. Notably, Stephen Curry is the first player to win Finals MVP with a unanimous decision.
