Jayson Tatum announced the love for his fans after tonight’s easy win. The Boston Celtics have secured a sure-shot place in the playoffs with a dominant 53-14 record. As the regular season comes to a close, a few of the Celtics’ players like Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis have opted to sit out on games apart from intense ones. However, Tatum doesn’t like to sit out regardless of the context of the game and he also gave his reason after tonight’s win over the Washington Wizards.

In the post-game press conference, Tatum said, “I don’t like to sit out. I understand if I was injured or whatever but… I love to play the game, especially on the road. There’s so many fans out there with Tatum 0 jerseys on. Came to see me play, so I take pride in making sure I’m available as much as I can.”

This isn’t the first time when he spoke about the fans. He has spoken about the fans multiple times throughout his career. It could be the reason behind his likable nature across the league. However, there is a fan base with whom Jayson Tatum shares a ‘love-hate’ relationship. Last year, a reporter asked him about his most hated fan base.

While Tatum didn’t term it, the ‘most hated’, he revealed that he has a “love-hate relationship” with the Philadelphia 76ers fans. Moreover, he also reasoned, saying, “Philly had the No. 1 pick…They could’ve picked me. We’ve got a little love-hate relationship between us,” referring to the 2017 draft. And also, speaking of the home fans, he said, “They embrace me almost as one of their own, that means a lot. And I love being here,” reporter Sports Illustrated.

Nevertheless, with his statement tonight, the star forward has announced himself as a people’s player and ensured to make himself available for the games.

Jayson Tatum shines in the absence of Brown and Porzingis

The Celtics stepped on the court without their three starters, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, and Derrick White. However, it didn’t affect the team’s performance tonight. Tatum took the responsibility for the offense corner as he torched 30 points with 6 assists and 6 rebounds. He was supported by Sam Hauser’s 30 points to register a blow-out 104-130 win at Washington.

With 15 games left in the season, the Celtics have already clinched their playoff spot. The team will look to seek revenge for the two back-to-back setbacks in the post-season by winning the championship this time.
