4x NBA Champion Draymond Green finally made his way to the court after his indefinite suspension. But it didn’t seem to make any difference to the struggling Golden State Warriors. They took on the short handed Memphis Grizzlies on a Monday night encounter. While the win was on the cards for the Dubs, considering the Grizzlies’ injury woes, the second unit seemed to have got the better of the Warriors.

The Memphis side has had the worst possible last days in the NBA world. While they already suffered the absence of Ja Morant in the first 25-games, he was ruled out with a season-ending surgery after playing only 9 games. Following that, the team’s starters Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart were also ruled out with injuries.

Even though the Draymond Green was cleared to play three games ago, Steve Kerr pooled him in the mix only tonight. HC Kerr, who has been facing the heat on his rotational policy, took the bold call to bring Green off the bench tonight.

On his return game, he dropped 7 points in his 24-minute game time, along with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. However, it didn’t create the magic which was expected from the 33-year-old.

When Green was expected the fit into the missing piece, he was nowhere in the frame to save the sinking Warriors. On the other hand, the Dubs had the worst night guarding from the arc. The home side dropped 20 three-pointers, most allowed by the Warriors in this season so far. On the other hand, the Dubs could only drop 10.

Despite the poor defense near the arc, the game was down to the wire, when both teams were tied at 91 points with 10 minutes left in the game. With clutch players like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson on the side, the Dubs were favored to win the game. Let’s find out what went wrong.

With a game on the line, the Dubs gave away a lot of turnovers, bad passes, and missed buckets in the 10 minutes. Moreover, Steph didn’t play the entire 10 minutes. Kerr took him out of the game when 7 minutes were left in the game and put him back in around the 4-minute mark.

In the 3-minute absence of Curry, the team could only drop 2 points, putting further pressure on the superstar to chase the 10-point lead.

Eventually, the Grizzlies took home their second win in the absence of their starting players after a two-game losing streak. Will the Grizzlies push the Dubs on the West ladder, as they are only three wins away? Only time will tell.

“If you don't fall how are you going to know what getting up is like." - Reading this, it’d be pretty much evident how much I love and am in awe of Stephen Curry. His Warrior spirit flows right in my veins.
