After their recent clash that saw the Minnesota Timberwolves echo victorious howls, Golden State Warriors and Wolves came onto Chase Center to extend their previous battle. However, this time the Warriors were missing their sniper, Stephen Curry, due to a knee sprain. Regardless, it seemed like Draymond Green was locked into a personal matchup of his own from the get-go; despite it being a crucial In-Season Tournament matchup.

As a result, Green decided to give one of the Wolves a dogfight of his own, turning tension up a notch. The hardwood quickly transformed into a battleground, witnessing an early showdown reminiscent of an MMA fight; with the scorecard stacked at 0, and a torn jersey as a memento.

After a slow start from both ends, the Warriors and Timberwolves found themselves in a heated skirmish less than two minutes in. After grabbing a rebound off Anthony Edwards’ missed shot, Draymond Green swiftly initiated an outlet pass. While running down the floor, Jaden McDaniels and Klay Thompson engaged in a tussle; with McDaniels swinging Thompson while firmly gripping his jersey. Amidst the escalating chaos, Draymond Green, fueled by the commotion, bounced on the Wolves’ big man. He pounced on Rudy Gobert from behind and locked him in a tight chokehold for a tense 5 seconds. Only with the combined efforts of staff and team members, and after dragging Gobert about 10 feet, did Green relent and release the big man from his grip.

Draymond Green earned his second ejection of the season. Furthermore, both Klay Thompson and McDaniels were also shown the exit door. Moreover, Gobert was granted a trip to charity stripes to keep the game rolling.

In 2019, despite putting up great numbers, Gobert was snubbed out of the NBA All-Star roster. As a result, the big man displayed teary emotions during a media interview. He soon became a talking point for Draymond Green, who seized the opportunity to mock Gobert during the 2022 NBA All-Star reserves reveal; poking fun at his emotional moment on live television.

Despite Green’s jabs, Gobert has consistently maintained a professional demeanor, avoiding any public disputes. Even when discussing the perceived undervaluation of his skills, Gobert has spoken positively about Draymond Green. However, after Draymond’s scrimmage altercation with Jordan Poole, Gobert took a shot at the Warriors star; or that is what fans assume it to be. In a tweet, Gobert wrote, “Insecurity is always loud.”
