Draymond, in his quirkiest best, has complemented the WNBA Championship winners, the Las Vegas Aces with a cryptic tweet. The Aces are the latest to win back-to-back championships, prior to which, the Warriors were the last to do that feat in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. With this, the complete focus of the basketball world shifts to the NBA, which is primed for great action.

With the regular season around the corner, Draymond Green’s availability for the Dubs is still in question. But he is a shrewd professional. Yet, why would he divert attention to himself with this tweet?

Let’s hail the conquerors!

A’Ja Wilson’s Aces are the rulers of the WNBA world. They achieved this feat despite losing their main point guard, Chelsea Gray, in the previous game. Chelsea was at her aggressive best in the finals, and even Draymond gave a shout-out which was a tipping of a hat from one defensive player to another. Losing her due to ankle injury was a heavy blow for the Aces. The defensive player of the year winner, A’Ja, took it upon herself to compensate for Gray’s absence. And she led the Aces from the front to win this grinding action that could have gone either way. And Draymond Green’s below tweet is a witty take on that. His quote was “Sometimes I just know how to do it better than you! Congrats to The Aces!! Back to back!

It was a heartbreak for the New York Liberty, which went for all the marbles and yet got edged out by one point. For the fans of the Liberty, the 69-70 loss must be a gut-wrenching loss which they will not forget anytime soon.

DPOY vs MVP

While A’Ja put on a clinic with 24 points and 16 rebounds stat line, the MVP of the WNBA, Breanna Stewart, could only score 10 points to go along with her 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Coming into this game, the Liberty had all the momentum from their 3 finals game win. Yet they could not capitalize on that spark.

In Chelsey Gray’s absence, the Aces struggled to create scoring opportunities, which could not be taken advantage of by the Liberty in this low-scoring game. And had they scored one more basket, the title would have been up for grabs in the “winner takes all” final game. But sports is not about speculation, it is about the action on the court. And the verdict is, the Aces are the Champions, and A’Ja Wilson is the finals MVP of 2023.
