The NBA Playoffs spark the playing field with heightened intensity and emotions. It results in physicality, ignited rivalries, and a few questionable calls and altercations. However, when it comes to Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkić, the two don’t need court time to spark their season-long beef.

After the Phoenix Suns faced a sweep against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Green added to his famous feud with the Suns’ big man. In a hilarious dig, Green questioned the validity of Nurkic’s NBA career by posting a certain stat on his IG story. Posting @basketballforever’s recent upload, Green highlights Nurkic’s mere 15% as the all-time worst playoff win percentage. With that, he quips, “Hope that brother gets the help he needs.”

Nurkic has entered the playoffs 5 times throughout his career, 4-times with the Portland Trail Blazers and once with the Suns. With that, he has only garnered 3 wins in 20 games, and is still waiting to see a second round series.

Green’s caption to summarize Nurkic’s dismal record sparks from the December 12 post-game interview, when Nurkic resorted to exact words to summarize Green. The Warriors’ defensive anchor was called for a Flagrant 2 in the game for swinging at Nurkic during an inbound play. Nurkic immediately fell to the floor in pain, forcing the staff and medics to swarm him. Green faced an indefinite suspension due to his actions, which added to his Golden State Warriors’ disappointing run. Even though the lingering hurt of the season can justify Green’s sudden trash-talk to Nurkic, there has been a lot the two have built in their rivalry since then.

Looking at events that led to Draymond Green’s derision

After the December altercation, Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkic met in Februrary. The game was immediately heated behind the two big-man as physical plays culminated through tensions between them. Nurkic hit Green with a “too small” gesture after posting him up and hitting a hook shot to give Suns a lead in the 3rd quarter.

To that, Green responded a few plays after, shouldering Nurkic for a left hand hook shot, and slapping the floor to signify the same gesture.

In the post game interview, when forced to talk about his exchange with Green, Nurkic resorted to verbal jabs. “It’s sad, he didn’t learn anything,” Jusuf said to mock Green of his second suspension of the season. However, Green then went on a rant about how he beat Nurkic at his own game on his podcast.

Months later, minutes after Warriors face elimination in the play-ins, Nurkic posted the iconic “That’s all folks,” sequence to mock Green. Now, with Suns facing the same fate, Green hopped on his YT podcast saying that Jusuf does not play a winning role for his team. Moreover, calling him a “big softie,” he mocks “Yeah, that is all, folks,” in light of the Suns’ season.
