Draymond Green‘s antics seem to be wearing thin on everyone, including Warriors teammate Stephen Curry. Recently ejected within 4 minutes in Thursday’s matchup against the Orlando Magic for technical fouls, Green’s outburst raised questions about his anger issues compared to Klay Thompson’s adaptability. While Green seems to be struggling, the Splash Brother has embraced his new reality. Despite what can be dubbed as a ‘demotion’ to the bench after a long starting streak, Thompson never complained rather, he sprung back into action when called for duty!

On a recent episode of “Warriors This Week,” radio show hosts discussed the Warriors‘ dependence on Steph Curry, calling him the “sun” of the franchise. They acknowledged how Draymond “extracted an emotional outpour that we’ve never seen before from Curry.”  They continued, “While I do think that Draymond will probably be still in the team next year because I think he can still help them but I’m to the point where I think I’d rather have Klay Thompson on this team moving forward than Draymond Green.”

This viewpoint comes amidst Draymond’s missed games, which may have cost the Golden State Warriors a strong playoff run. The hosts elaborated, “That’s the level of toxicity that I’ve seen this year, him missing 25 games largely because of his own actions, bringing Curry to the brink of tears.” The host thus asserts having Thompson on the court for the Warriors seems like a better choice; further added on by the shooting guard’s soaring reliable presence.

Walk the Green mile or splash with Klay?

As opposed to big man Green, Thompson’s value hasn’t diminished. In fact, he’s become a reliable scorer off the bench, still capable of explosive nights. He remains a defensive threat and a key option in GSW’s plays. Coach Kerr brought Thompson off the bench to ease him into the new role. This decision followed a career-long starting streak of 808 games.

In his first game as a reserve, Thompson silenced the haters with a season-high 35 points. He seems to be thriving in his role. The Warriors now have flexibility, they can either start Thompson or use him as a 6th man depending on the matchup. Currently averaging 18.7 points per game in March, Thompson is finding his mojo back.

On the other hand, Green’s past actions raise red flags. He’s admitted costing the Warriors a championship in 2016 due to suspension. He basically told Kevin Durant that he wasn’t needed and even resorted to violence with ex-teammate Jordan Poole. Suspensions for a chokehold (Rudy Gobert) further paint a picture of a player struggling with anger issues.

Green’s latest ejection marked just 31 games and three minutes since Green’s last suspension. The Warriors hold a narrow one-game lead over the Rockets for the final Play-In spot with only 10 games left. Every game nay, every minute matters. Warriors coach Steve Kerr, called Green’s ejection “unforgivable” and acknowledged Curry’s visible frustration.
