You cannot pronounce Anthony Davis without injuries. The 32-year-old was a dominant force on the court once upon a time. But now, everyone hopes that he survives each game without hurting a limb or two. However, the recent ligament damage to his hand is likely sidelining him for the rest of the season. Yet, when healthy, the big man has been a menace to every NBA franchise in his prime. And Draymond Green knows it the best.

On The Draymond Green Show, the Golden State Warriors’ forward clarified something important about Davis. “AD in tip-top shape is still an All-NBA level player. Still a monster on the offensive end. Still a monster on the defensive end.” But, “Health has been an issue.”

Now, (consciously or unconsciously), adding some fuel to the ‘Anthony Davis to Warriors’ trade rumors, Green chipped in, “I think you get with the right staff, right organization.” In simple terms, the right organization will actively help injury-prone stars like AD manage preparation, training, and recovery smartly to reduce potential health issues before they become bigger problems.

Draymond Green further doubled down, saying that a healthy Davis instantly elevates any team. Unfortunately, injuries complicate his value, but his peak seasons have proven his dominance. As a top 75 player, stars like AD rarely become available, making him worth serious consideration despite health concerns.

Now, the Dallas Mavericks superstar sustained a significant hand injury in the Mavs’ 114-116 loss vs. the Utah Jazz on Thursday, January 8. The head coach, Jason Kidd, has informed everyone, “There is no schedule or timetable on when he’s going to make that announcement.” Most importantly, AD will be out for months if he goes for surgery. However, a nonsurgical route will reportedly keep him away for at least six weeks.

Meanwhile, the trade buzz around AD continues to escalate even though Dallas is seemingly going to keep him off the market amidst the injury. And among all the teams swarming around, Draymond Green’s Warriors seem to be the most interested candidates for the trade. But the question is: Should the front office go after this move?

The Warriors are still in the fight for Anthony Davis

Earlier in January, insider Bret Siegel revealed that the Golden State Warriors were exploring a Jimmy Butler-centered trade proposal to pursue Anthony Davis. But why Butler? Because Jonathan Kuminga stays off the table, saved for other paths. The Draymond Green line is even clearer. He sits just shy of untouchable. Any deal involving him would need a green light from Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr, and Joe Lacob.

However, in the present scenario involving AD’s injury, maybe the Dubs shouldn’t go after the trade. The Warriors already sit deep in tax trouble. Their 2025-26 payroll hits $207 million, third highest in the league, with projected tax space at -$19.2 million and an estimated bill of $81.2 million.

Adding Anthony Davis at $54.12 million only tightens the squeeze. His salary climbs to $58.4 million next season and $62.7 million via a player option in 2027-28. That is a $175.37 million commitment matching Jimmy Butler’s money while multiplying financial risk.

But on paper, this Davis deal looks enticing. He stands 6’10 with a 7’6 wingspan, averages 20 plus points, 11 plus rebounds, and 1.6 blocks. However, durability remains a loud concern with recurring adductor, eye, calf, and hand issues.

So while speculation around Anthony Davis’ trade to the Warriors continues to grow, one truth remains unwavering in the NBA. And that is, AD when healthy is lethal. Draymond Green knows it, the league knows it, and most importantly, the fans know it. However, calls for retirement amidst injury troubles also creep in. And that brings us to the final and probably the most important question: Will Davis make a comeback for the Dallas Mavericks this season? What do you think?
