Since Jordan sold the majority stakes to the group to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall, the Franchise has made a lot of moves. As of now, the Hornets have an incredible all-around PG LaMelo Ball, but his injuries remain poorly managed. Then the team picked rookie Brandon Miller, who is a fantastic long-range shooter, something the team craves. Controversial Forward Miles Bridges is returning, and if he is even 75% of what he was before a full-season suspension, he can elevate the team on both ends.

Gordon Hayward brings veteran leadership, but injuries have spoiled his returns. Kelly Oubre and Terry Rozier are too streaky but can give 20+ points too. The team needs a lot of stability in terms of defense as it has leaked way too many points. According to hoopsyhype, the team is now aiming for a 27-year-old veteran, Edmond Sumner. The Guard was released by Brooklyn Nets just five days ago, just after a season.

He is a calculative guard. He doesn’t take many bad shots and has improved his shooting with each season. During his career-best 2020-21 season with the Pacers, he averaged 7.4 points on 52.5% shooting. He can give quality 15-20 minutes.

He can find some playing time if the Hornets catch the annoying injury bug or even as a main rotation player. He can play sustainable defense, an end where the Hornets have seen major struggles.

Turning to the draft again, what can Amari Bailey add to the team? His summer league performances will certainly interest backcourt LaMelo who can perform tough passes on the fastbreak. A LaMelo dish for Bailey sounds nice.

It isn’t like Jordan doesn’t speak. He does. When he talks about basketball, he talks about the change of culture in the NBA and how the defense is perceived. He speaks poignantly about the importance of defense during a Charlotte Hornets Press Conference. The legendary Shooting Guard lauded Miles Bridges after his debut in the All-Star game. He called him someone who doesn’t just rely on “jumping and shooting”. He also showered praise upon Kemba Walker, who was making his third All-Star team.
