Miles Morales swings into action for a new cause! Sony Pictures Animation recently revealed that the company, along with  Sony Pictures Imageworks have teamed up with the Kevin Love Fund (KLF) to create an animated short film, “The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story”. The NBA All-Star Kevin Love will work with the team for a cause he has remained persistent about.

As suggested, the film is all about flashy animation and battles with supervillains, “The Spider Within” aims to get real about mental health. It’ll be incorporated into KLF’s “The Hero Within” lesson plan, an intriguing program designed to empower students to explore their own experiences through the power of storytelling.

Imagine yourself crafting your own superhero origin story, but instead of radioactive spiders or alien symbiotes, it focuses on overcoming personal challenges. This interactive curriculum even gives students a chance to create their own storyboards, much like the pros who brought “The Spider Within” to life.

“The Hero Within,” is just one piece of KLF’s arsenal. This free, evidence-based program has over 15 lesson plans, already reaching over 55,000 students worldwide. Proceeds from the campaign will benefit KLF to further help develop their educational resources. In line with the persisting notion, the five-time All-Star hopped on the new project in hopes of extending widespread support.

Kevin Love & Miles Morales: The Dream Team

Speaking of his mindset, Kevin Love, founder of KLF elaborated, “My hope for the short film would be for everyone, especially young people, to understand that your feelings are valid and that you are not alone in this… You see it with Spider-Man in the short film, where Miles has a trusted confidante. He is able to take a walk with his dad and express what he’s going through. We can all learn from that – how important it is to reach out to someone, express your true emotions, speak your truth, and not hold everything inside.

The short film, penned by the talented Khaila Amazan and produced by the dream team of Michelle Raimo-Kouyate and David Schulenburg, will be dropping on Sony Pictures Animation’s YouTube channel on March 27th. “The Spider Within” promises to be a heart-warming, action-packed reminder: you’re not alone, and even the coolest heroes need a helping hand sometimes.
