In their home showdown against the Golden State Warriors, the Celtics raced out to a 44-point first-half lead, their largest in franchise history, and never looked back on their dominant 140-88 victory. Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, who had a questionable knee from his last game against the Toronto Raptors, played only 17 minutes. Outspoken NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith had some opinions about the game!

During the halftime show, while discussing the Celtics’ insane 44-point lead, Stephen A. stated, “I ain’t never seen anything like this. This ain’t the end of the game, this is halftime. The Golden State Warriors were nearly down by 50 at halftime….Steph Curry looks like first time I’ve seen just Steph Curry don’t even look like he belongs out there.

While “apologizing” to the American public, Stephen A. continued, “That could have happened to me it might as well be me out there playing against Boston, that’s how bad Golden State…” to which his co-hosts wittingly replied, “That would be worse.

The Shamrocks crushed the Dubs

Golden State’s duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were benched for the entire second half, but the damage was already done as the Boston Celtics cruised to a 52-point victory. This marked the first time in NBA history that a team has achieved three separate 50-point wins in a single season.

Despite missing key players, the Celtics dominated from the start, led by All-Stars Jaylen Brown (29 points) and Jayson Tatum (27 points, 5 assists). Boston’s sharpshooters connected a staggering 51% (25 for 49) from beyond the arc. This offensive onslaught broke down a Warriors team that had recently found their footing, winning 11 out of their previous 13 games.

The Celtics’ dominance in today’s went beyond their starters. Even with reserves seeing increased playing time in the second half of the game, they still outscored Golden State in the 3rd quarter by 9 points. This displayed the Celtics’ improved skills since last season, a promising sign for their potential Championship run this season.

While the loss presumably stings, the Warriors can find some respite in their recent dubs on this Eastern Conference trip. Despite missing key players like Andrew Wiggins and dealing with injuries to Curry and Podziemski, they managed to win 2 of their 4 games. After a well-deserved day off on Monday, Golden State will return to practice and gear up for their upcoming showdown with against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. Should Stephen A. Smith think it fit to face the Bucks instead of the Warriors, it would be quite the spectacle all right! Share your thoughts in the comments.
