The Cavaliers’ Coach at the time, Tyronn Lue, has revealed what actually happened before Game 5, the turning point of the finals, on a podcast that’s gaining the attention of NBA fans.

He said, “We got down 3-1, and I just felt we could beat them. If we made some adjustments and some tweaks, I just felt that we could beat them. I swear. We got down 3-1, so I called up Bron to the office and I said, ‘Listen, we have to do this, this and this and we can beat them.’ Bron was on board, like, ‘They are getting tired, they are getting worn down.’

But some things we had to change defensively too, and so, I came into practice before we left for game 5. I was like, ‘Listen if you don’t believe we can win, just stay here. We don’t want you on the bus, we don’t want no negativity. If you don’t feel we can win game 5, just stay home, we’ll see you at game 6.'”

He wrapped up the conversation with an anecdote, “So, we go up to game 5 and we win game 5 and so Kyrie was 41, LeBron has 43, whatever. After the game, everybody was in the locker room. All the coaches, the front office people, the owners, their kids, the training staff. I said to everybody in the locker room, ‘Give me 200 dollars.’ Players and everybody. I am gonna take it and put it in the ceiling and we come back to get our money for Game 7. So, we had to go home and win Game 6 and come back for Game 7.”

The rest is history for NBA fans.
