Ex-NBA Champ Bestows Anthony Davis With Ultimate Honor As Lakers Star Battles Injury Woes In Playoff Run

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis continues to deliver one of his best performances throughout the ongoing NBA season. Along with LeBron James, he has established himself as one of the lead scorers of the team, continuing to display his dominance whenever the opportunity to do so presents itself. While the player seems to be having one of his best seasons, his team may be going through the worst. Despite the Lakers’ abysmal performance, NBA enthusiasts have not forgotten to give credit and praise where it is due.
A few hours ago, former Boston Celtics stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce released another episode of their ‘Ticket & The Truth’ show. With Tony Allen joining in as guest host, the trio discussed the current situation of the Lakers, who are currently listed as the 9 seed on the Western Conference Points Table. Keeping the entire roster aside for a moment, Paul Pierce went out of his way to state “Right now, I just see Anthony Davis look like the best player in the world”.
While Pierce’s opinion seemed to have stemmed from the Lakers player’s performance throughout the season, it became affirmed after noticing his offensive process during the recent matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. The 46-year-old was especially impressed with how Davis managed to hold his own against the likes of Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo aka the ‘Greek Freak’. “The Greek Freak had like 29 (points), 21 (rebounds) and like 10 (assists), and you got outplayed,” said Pierce. “That’s crazy”.

Giannis had managed to take the lead during the first three-quarters of the recent game and delivered beautifully. Thanks to his effort, the Bucks were leading by 14 points. However, once it felt that the game was slipping from his hand, Davis took charge of the Lakers and did not hold back. Between the fourth quarter and the eventual overtime, he added 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks to his overall tally. Davis did all of this during a game when there was no LeBron James to assist him with the scoring effort. By the time the clock approached zero and both overtimes had concluded, Davis had overtaken Giannis’s monstrous score by having accumulated 34 points and 23 rebounds during his 52 minutes of playtime.
The Lakers currently possess a win-loss record of 41-32. If they accumulate enough wins during their remaining 9 games, then they may very well have a chance of making it to the playoffs. However, there still remains a doubt whether Anthony Davis will be available to assist them during the same.

Will Anthony Davis’ Injury Affect his availability during the Lakers’ Playoff Run?
Back in January of this year, the NBA world was informed that Anthony Davis had been suffering from an acute Achilles injury. Since then, the player has been appearing in almost every Injury Report released before a game. If that wasn’t enough, the player had also managed to get his eye in harm’s way during a clash against the Warriors.
Despite all these woes, there is no imminent doubt about Davis’ availability during the playoff run. His eye injury has not raised any concerns till now. Furthermore, the player hasn’t missed a game due to his Achilles injury since February 1. While the situation can change at any moment, there is no doubt that the Lakers will have their second-highest average scorer by their side when making this last-ditch effort.
