“I’m thinking about everything but basketball, most likely. Even during the season when I play, this is the oasis. This is where I get to chill,” said Stephen Curry, when describing what golf means to him. The NBA court is the star player’s workplace, but ‘putting’ the ball on the green pasture carries its own separate thrill. The passion that has existed since he was 10 years old has today allowed Curry to become an avid golfer, who once won the American Century Championship, and was named the Golf Ambassador of 2023 by the Champions Tour. Now, with the player having entered the post-season, he is using the free time to ‘tee’ things up again, and not alone.

The official Instagram accounts of ‘Golfbet’ and ‘memorialgolf’ highlighted Stephen Curry amongst the list of celebrities at the Memorial Tournament Pro-Am taking place at Muirfield Village. Described as an “upscale” golf-oriented community in Dublin, Ohio, it’s the perfect place to host a series of celebrities and golf enthusiasts. The pictures from the event showed Curry joining professional golfer Justin Peter Rose for a round. On top of that, Curry revealed bringing along his family too, by stating “Me, my dad, and my brother got a little skins game going”.

The two generations of basketball players seemed to be delivering some memorable strokes during the event. This certainly did not ‘play well’ with the Warriors star, who joked, “They’re asking for too many strokes right now, that’s the problem. Seth gets 12, Pops gets 6. And you see my dad’s a…. you see my dad’s accuracy off the tee”. Of course, Stephen Curry isn’t the only golf enthusiast in the family.

Both Seth and Dell Curry had taken the 4x NBA champion’s place during the 2024 American Century Championship while Steph was busy preparing with the Team USA roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics. They did well in one of the early days of the tournament, with Dell scoring 19 points to tie for fifth while Seth scored 16 to place 12th. Both are in contention, entering the weekend.

The Currys have to keep the competition maintained. After all, every year, they have a bet amongst those in the family while competing for the “Curry Belt.” This bet includes a handicap for each member of the family, as well as a certain position they need to reach in order to claim that belt. The loser has to do something hilarious, like jump into the lake as punishment. Therefore, Stephen Curry might want to use every chance well to ensure it’s his brother or father who jumps into the pool.

Amongst the other celebrities at the Pro-Am Event are ‘The West Wing’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’ (my two favorite shows) star Rob Lowe, former quarterback Peyton Manning, Michelle Wie West, Nick Saban, Ryan Day, Noah Kahan, etc. Steph was having a lively time with Justin Rose, recalling old stories about their golf events.

The Memorial Tournament once again allows Stephen Curry to try out his golf skills in the open. However, every opportunity presents another one within it. Therefore, both the NBA player and his wife are also using the chance to further spread the message about their initiative.

Ayesha and Stephen Curry brought in ‘Eat.Learn.Play’ foundation as a beneficiary of the tournament for the 4th consecutive year

If there is one thing Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha, have become known for throughout the Oakland community, other than basketball, it is the ‘Eat. Learn. Play’ Foundation. In the 5-6 years since its establishment, Steph and Ayesha have raised over $47 million+ that has gone on to provide families, especially children in need, with nutritious meals and quality reading resources. They have also taken every opportunity to spread the message about their initiative. With the Memorial Tournament bringing in some big names, what better way was there at the present moment to shine a light on their foundation?

A few days ago, Ayesha Curry took to Instagram to share a story with her 7.9 million followers. The same highlighted a message from Chris Helfrich, the CEO of the foundation, who said, “I speak on behalf of everyone at Eat, Learn, Play when I say we are honored to partner with the Memorial Tournament, Workday, and its founder and executive chairman, Aneel Bhusri, for the fourth consecutive year.”

He also added, “… Being a part of such an iconic tournament has allowed us to expand our efforts and have a positive impact in the lives of kids in our hometown of Oakland, California. Thank you for your continued support of our mission at Eat Learn Play, and enjoy tournament week.”

This golf tournament isn’t the only way Steph and Ayesha have drawn attention to their foundation. For the last 5 years, the couple has hosted their Annual Workday Charity Classic Golf Tournament. Last year, any proceeds that were coming from the tournament were going straight to helping 10,000 elementary school students who require an improvement in their reading skills. While $11 million had already been raised, Steph and Ayesha were seeking an additional $2 million to reach their target.

When speaking to the press during the Golden Bear Pro-Am Event, Stephen Curry revealed, “This is my 3rd time being here, and this is the 4th year that me and my wife’s foundation, we’re gonna be….. we have been co-beneficiary with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. So to have, um, takes the whole town, and obviously being born in Akron, bringing that impact back to the Bay Area, and all through, you know, the funds are going back into the foundation, great work that we’re trying to do.”
