It’s not often you see former players trashing Stephen Curry. Unless it was Magic Johnson, who had to defend his best point guard title. Months after the ‘Best PG’ debate, another Curry slander has surfaced in the NBA world. This time it’s from a player who has faced the 4x NBA Champ multiple times on the court, Evan Turner. Moreover, the former Philadelphia 76ers player recently made a twisted take on Steph’s public image. Amid this circumstance, it’s important to verify whether Turner actually took a dig at Curry.

In the age of social media, the public can get carried away with misinformation. Especially when there are a lot of parody accounts for established news personalities and platforms. In the case of the latest Curry slander, it’s a classic case of misinformation. And, luckily, Evan Turner himself clarified it to the fans.

An X handle, NBACentel, impersonating a popular NBA updates handle, ‘NBA Central’, is known for misleading the hoops nation with fake news. In that lineup, NBACental came up with an outrageous claim targeting Turner and Stephen Curry. The post read, “Evan Turner: “Stephen Curry would have been nothing special had he played in my day,” and even quoted ESPN as the source. While it already garnered 1.7 likes, Turner stepped in to debunk it.

Evan Turner’s sarcastic dig at NBACentel for its fake news and considered it “blasphemous”. The 10-season experienced Turner, played his last NBA game in 2020, representing the Atlanta Hawks. Following that, he turned his attention towards coaching. Notably, the 35-year-old took an assistant coach role in the Boston Celtics in 2022. While he has played against Steph a lot of times, what prompted NBACentel to glaze up a controversy? It remains unknown.

Has Evan Turner ever took a taken dig at Stephen Curry?

The 2nd overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft was expected to make a massive dent in the NBA world. But, he came to an end after 10 seasons, in which he produced an underwhelming average of 9.7 ppg. Nevertheless, he had the opportunity to play opposite Baby-faced Assassin multiple times.

Speaking of which, he recently revealed that he once rooted for Curry as turned hot, sinking four 3-pointers in a row against the Portland Trail Blazers. In his recent podcast, he added, “You done hit three straight, but then you hit the fourth and I wanted to turn up, like, ‘Go crazy! Go crazy!’ You know what I mean?… As a fan and as a player, you always appreciate it. It’s always been that part, where you really remove yourself and you can really appreciate what you do.”

However, on the same podcast, he made a skewed analysis of Steph’s superstar image and compared it with Jayson Tatum. When the conversation was about JT being the next face of the league, Turner said, “They trying to do my man bogus because he ain’t corny,” speaking of the trolls surrounding Tatum copying the celebration. He further added, “I’m not calling like Stephen and them corny… I’m just saying they should have had the world by like off like Steph Curry’s shoes should be Jordan stock.”

The bottom line was, Turner Curry’s image didn’t match that of Michael Jordan‘s hype, and even found it too “beige”. Nevertheless, it might’ve sparked the NBACentel to spin a false narrative.
