The Los Angeles Lakers recently registered one of the most mind-blowing victories under pressure in the NBA against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Lakers had started the home-court match without LeBron James but played fine basketball throughout the game. But, this was until the final six minutes of the fourth quarter saw the Bucks retaliating with the partnership of Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, the Crypto.com Arena saw an unexpected hero in the form of Spencer Dinwiddie.

Over the years, the LA crowd has witnessed multiple crucial game-winning plays from the likes of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. Every young Lakers fan would dream of recreating them, sitting in the nosebleeds of the Staples Center. And Spencer Dinwiddie, an LA local, produced the grand game-winning block against the Bucks, just days after he donned the Purple & Gold jersey to seal a 123-122 win.

Interestingly, this rekindled a memory fragment of Spectrum SportsNet’s Mike Trudell who recalled and wrote about something crucial on X. Moreover, writing about it made him recall another Spencer Dinwiddie spectacle dating back to 2020.

In 2020, Spencer Dinwiddie, who was part of the Brooklyn Nets, took on the LA Lakers at the Crypto.com arena. The game went down the wire and turned into a close affair. With 40-odd seconds remaining in the game, the scores were tied at 102. Unfortunately, however, both LeBron James and Anthony Davis failed to seal the game in the final seconds of the match. This ultimately gave Dinwiddie the taste of hitting a game-winner at the Lakers’ home.

Unlike last time though, Spencer Dinwiddie was donning the Lakers threads this time. The clutch play not only saved the game against the Milwaukee Bucks but also a much-needed push in the points table. Especially when Los Angeles is pining for a playoff spot and have had a rough season so far.

After the Friday night win, the Lakers pushed the Warriors again back to the 10th seed. However, this time the Bay Area team would have difficulties in immediately climbing back, owing to Stephen Curry‘s ankle injury. Even though the recent reports have cleared that the superstar has nothing to worry about the injury, he might miss a couple of games. This gives the Lakers and Spencer Dinwiddie a good chance to pull off a playoff berth-winning block over GSW.

The injury bug looms over the LA Lakers as well. While LeBron James isn’t exactly fit right now, the Bucks match saw an injured Anthony Davis play for the team. However, he may miss the upcoming game against the best team in the NBA this season, the Minnesota Timberwolves. This puts additional responsibilities on the shoulders of Spencer Dinwiddie and D’Angelo Russel, who scored a season-high 44 points against the Bucks. Will the Lakers be able to win their upcoming matches and confirm a playoff spot for themselves?
