Caitlin Clark’s brilliance provoked a fan to confront Kevin Durant. Tonight, the Iowa superstar sought her revenge against defending champs, LSU Tigers, and secured a spot in the Final Four. The 22-year-old dropped 41 points with 9 three-pointers to assert her dominance against her rival, Angel Reese. Moments after the game, a fan asked a pressing question to the Phoenix Suns superstar via his X handle.

The post read, “Caitlin lost to LSU, got in the lab and came back to smoke them. Why couldn’t you do that?”, tagged Durant in the post. In response, KD replied, “Awwwww Kenny…u still hurt?”. It is not just him who was riled up after the Caitlin Clark show.

The NCAA sensation turned the entire hoops community’s attention to her side with her shooting brilliance. The 22-year-old orchestrated one of the best comeback stories in college basketball. During the 2023 NCAA Finals, Angel Reese’s LSU defeated the Iowa. However, a particular moment in the game got more popular than the result. After taking the 4th-quarter lead, Reese did a ‘you can’t see me’ celebration and pointed her ring at Clark, thus making the start of a rivalry.

However, it didn’t take longer than a year for Clark to get back at Reese. She did it with style with an 85.7 FT%. While Kevin Durant has his fair share of comeback stories, the aforementioned fan seemed to be expecting more from the superstar.

The 2x NBA Champion has faced criticism from the fanbase to another level. Ever since he moved to the Golden State Warriors, he has been constantly called out as a ‘ring chaser’. Moreover, after the failure of Durant’s legendary collaboration with Kyrie Irving and James Harden, he still is being criticized. At the same time, KD hasn’t remained silent with the critics, shutting down some of them on social media.

Kevin Durant and his brutal replies

Being a superstar in a global sport comes with its disadvantages. One of them is the blatant hate thrown at oneself on social media. While many sports stars refused to react to the comments, Kevin Durant has replied to a few of them in the past. Tonight, he dealt with the above-mentioned fan’s comments with a sarcasm-filled reply. Whereas, in other cases, Durant has shut down the fans with brutal replies.

Notably, Following KD’s 49-point triple-double game against the Bucks in playoffs, a fan wrote, “Happiest I’ve ever been as an NBA fan. U shoulda made that damn free throw tho @KDTrey5 smh.” In response, KD wrote, U never satisfied.” Similarly, there are a lot of examples where KD has replied to fans.

Notably, pundits have also suggested he should not engage with hate comments on social media multiple times. Shannon Sharpe once even said, “Well, I think the thing is that KD responds a little bit more than they do,” and asked him to “Let things slide,” in the show Undisputed.
