The FIBA World Cup has seen intense action right off the bat. The Group Stages have been a riveting watch and fans are only going to see more intriguing battles from here on. For the USA, the competition looks a notch below in the Group Stage so far and their domination has paved the way for some brilliant plays on both ends. For Greece, not having Giannis Antetokounmpo has hurt their bottom line.

Fans feel brother can’t fill Giannis Antetokounmpo’s void
In the least surprising outcome, the USA defeated Greece 109:81. In the first quarter, fans saw riveting back-to-back point, rejections by the Grizzlies‘ Jaren Jackson Jr.
During that time, Greece kept the game to just one point but those blocks on Thanasis Antetokounmpo in 15 seconds certainly brought more rhythm to the USA.

Most reactions dissed Thanasis Antetokounmpo and reiterated that he has an NBA job only because of his brother. In 29 minutes, the Forward finished with 2 points, making just one of his five field goal attempts and missed all four opportunities from the free-throw line. He did have four rebounds and one assist but his team has gotten hammered as expected.
Will the Greek men have done better with him around? On that note, the Forward has ignited turbulence among the Milwaukee Bucks.

Antetokounmpo is on wait mode
The Greek Freak isn’t able to help his native nation because of knee surgery. But it isn’t his injury but the refusal to sign an extension with the Milwaukee Bucks that is the hot news. The Forward is eligible to do so in 2024 but refused to sign it. He revealed to NY Times‘ Tania Ganguli, “Next summer it would make more sense for both parties. Even then, I don’t know.
He continued, “I would not be the best version of myself if I don’t know that everybody’s on the same page. Everybody’s going for a championship, everybody’s going to sacrifice time away from their family like I do. And if I don’t feel that, I’m not signing.“
