Stephen A. Smith issues apology to Noah Lyles

Recently, track star Noah Lyles went on to give his take on the NBA teams calling themselves world champions. And his opinion may have managed to strike a nerve with many NBA players but it sure did with Stephen A.

Smith went on to First Take to blast Noah for his ‘World Champions’ take. This led, German actor Boris Kodje to step in that caused Smith to issue an apology. The veteran analyst just issued an apology on The Stephen A. Smith Show.

Smith mentioned why he was adamant on his take. He said, “I happen to know for a fact that nearly a third of the NBA players are not from the United States. I happen to know for a fact that you’re talking about 140 players that are from 40 different countries.”

“140 players from 40 different countries and 6 different continents. So, I’m looking at it from that standpoint and I’m saying what the hell is he talking about? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. What’s he trying to say? It really didn’t make any sense to me. And I felt adamant about that.”

Smith realized his mistake after a text

Stephen A. Smith was sure of his opinion. He believed that the position from which he came from justified his harsh words towards Noah Lyles. Smith has been in this business for more than decades.

But even he required another person’s perspective to realize he was wrong. And it was none other than Boris Kodje who sent Smith a text regarding the whole scenario. After the veteran analyst read the entire text out on his show, he went on to accept that he was wrong.

This led him to not only accept that he was wrong but also apologize to Noah Lyles for his previous statements.
