With Adam Silver looking to transition to streaming platforms to broadcast games, the final deal with Amazon is still in limbo. TNT, the 35-year-long partner of the NBA can make a final leap to a comeback after matching Amazon’s offer. Now, It is hard to shake Adam Silver of his decision to transition the league’s media to streaming platforms. NFL streams its games on DAZN and the Association is also looking to establish its name with someone like Amazon and Peacock.

But as the deals are finalized, Turner Sports has one last chance to give a counter. Now, matching $1.8 billion worth of a deal which is the annual amount would be tough for Warner Bros. Discovery. To fulfill the next few years’ finances, Warner Bros. might just get in a lot of trouble. They’ll have to reserve cash of up to $6 billion which wouldn’t be possible for the most part. In fact, as per reports, it would “risk the future of the company”. Besides, Adam Silver is determined to move on from Turner Sports too.

On the other hand, Amazon’s deal has solidified its future with the NBA which Warner Bros. wouldn’t be able to level with. Turner Sports and its parent company have until today to match Amazon’s offer. There are also complications regarding lawsuits that Adam Silver might face. The streaming numbers spoke for themselves when it came to the In-Season tournament last year. Now, known as the Emirates Cup, Amazon will stream games that come under this tournament along with regular-season games that will be played on Thursdays.

This will also be a heartbreak for fans who love NBA on TNT with Charles Barkley and company. The show Inside the NBA has been on air for 35 years and to finally see it come to an end will be a sorrowful day. Regardless, other platforms like ABC and ESPN will be in full swing once the 2025-26 regular season commences. But what will the schedule look like?

Adam Silver’s planned streaming schedule is quite flexible

With Amazon, Peacock, NBC, ESPN, and ABC taking control of the telecast, all these platforms will have their desired days of the week.  Amazon will broadcast regular season games on Thursdays along with the In-Season tournament games. This alone explains how massive the Amazon deal is. The Lakers versus Pacers In-Season championship game garnered 4.6 million viewers. Given Amazon’s reach and royalties, there are massive amounts of profits for the Association and the streaming platform behind the scenes. On the other hand, Peacock and NBC will broadcast games on Mondays and Tuesdays respectively.

ESPN will be the busiest with game schedules on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It’ll obviously be great to have Mike Breen and crew call games on the weekend. Whereas ABC will feature a special Saturday night from next year. It will be interesting to see whether the long-time partners come up with a counter to stay in the game. Yes, the chances are quite low, but it is going to be their last leap in the losing battle against Amazon.
