Players in the NBA are nothing short of a business themselves. Not only do they have to worry about their performance on the court, but also about their business decisions off the court. One such major decision they have to make is which shoe deal they sign. With brands relentlessly competing to sign the top players in the league, the decision they make has a tremendous impact. Atlanta Hawks point guard, Trae Young, made a similar decision five years ago.

In a recent interview with the Golden State Warriors forward, Draymond Green, Young made an exciting announcement regarding his shoe deal with Adidas.

Trae Young reveals details about his new shoe

Young entered his rookie year in 2018 as the fifth overall pick. But before entering their rookie years, most top draft picks have the major decision of which shoe brand they sign with to make. Young chose the $34.04B German company footwear brand, Adidas.

Adidas is one of the biggest sports goods companies in the world. It has also made its name in the basketball world, producing quality basketball shoes for NBA players for years. The company boasts of having several modern-day greats among their NBA roster too.

Adidas signed Young in 2018, fresh off his incredible freshman season with the University of Oklahoma and being picked fifth overall in the NBA Draft. Since then, Young has had terrific collaborations with the firm.

In a recent interview on The Draymond Green Show, hosted by ‘DrayMagic’ himself, Young spoke about the announcement of his third shoe with Adidas, which will be out soon. He was asked about how the shoe helped him define his legacy, to which he replied, “Legacy is important to me, especially my family…. having my third shoe is so surreal to me”.

He also gave a personal insight into what the shoes meant to him. “Just knowing my favourite players growing up, having their own shoe… I needed to have that type of feeling.”

Young was certainly excited about his third shoe coming out, but how have his shoes fared earlier?

Young’s signature Adidas shoes are a massive hit

Trae Young released his signature shoes with Adidas in 2021. Since their release, the shoes have been a grand success among fans. With players and fans often donning the 2-time All-Star’s signature shoes, it is evident that the shoes are stylish and also competent for basketball.

Young has focused on innovation in both of his collaborations with Adidas and has only enhanced the shoes’ performance with newer models. The Trae Young models focus on having a lightweight feel for matching comfort with agility.

With his third shoe all set to launch, it will be interesting to see what features the 24-year-old will add to them.
