Chris Paul must have felt very awkward today as he entered the arena as a Warrior. He had tried to upstage the Dubs with all his heart. But life in the NBA, or life per se, can take one to unexpected places. CP3 at the Golden State is the best example of it. And he showed the world why he is a perfect fit with Stephen Curry and the Dubs.

The Warriors and Chris Paul have too many battle scars to show. To this date, many believe that if not for Paul’s injury, the Houston Rockets would have defeated the Golden State in the 2018 playoffs. Five years after that series, those 2 enemies have joined forces for the greater good.

Dubs need CP3

The point guard extraordinaire was in the starting lineup for this preseason game. He played for 13 minutes, scored 6 points, and facilitated 5 assists in the win against the LeBron-less Lakers. That 5 assists would be the exact reason the Warriors wanted him on the team. Last year, the Dubs had a tough time facilitating for one another and had the highest turnover ratio in the entire league. Chris Paul takes care of the ball and creates easy shots for others. Younger players like Kuminga and Moody are going to love him if they match his discipline and intensity.

Can this Dubs team win a title?

This team has the potential to win it all if they grow as a cohesive unit, and if they have no serious injuries. Draymond Green is injured already, but he is hopeful of returning during the regular season opener. And we are aware of Chris Paul?s heartbreaks. The Dubs should remain healthy enough to give themselves a chance to go for the title.

There is so much parity in the league that any team could spring a surprise. The Warriors would have to be better than the Phoenix Suns, the Lakers and the Champions Denver Nuggets to have a shot at the title.

Then there are sleeper teams like the Kings and the Grizzlies who have made some serious changes to grow stronger. But none of these teams have what the Warriors possess, their championship DNA.
