Kevin Durant gets candid after the Phoenix Suns lose three in a row! For most of the season, the Valley team depended on the Slim Reaper’s presence to win games. In the last two games, however, even the 2x NBA Champ couldn’t save the team and now, they are one loss away from becoming an under .500 side. Ahead of the Christmas Day challenge against the Denver Nuggets, the two teams had a battle at the Ball Arena and Nikola Jokic’s troops decimated the Suns…

It’s important to acknowledge that the Suns didn’t have their star guard Devin Booker by their side. But to even it out, even the Mile-High City played without Jamal Murray. Despite that, the home team managed to produce a blowout 117-90 win. The Suns, indeed, looked totally uncharacteristic with the total they managed to put up.

Speaking of it, Kevin Durant said, “We’re all frustrated. Feel like we can play way better. Feel like we’ve been playing in spurts, but not consistently. Good way to end the half, horrible way to start the (2nd) half. Those are the type of things that lose games. Those 2-3-4 minute spurts where you just don’t play good ball…”

The Suns’ front office went the distance without worrying about their second apron issue and created a lineup that looks threatening on paper. But it doesn’t carry the same sentiment in reality, as they head toward a disaster yet again. They lacked on both ends.

Notably, the Suns didn’t have Devin Booker (Left groin) and Grayson Allen (Concussion protocol), in turn strangling the Phoenix side offensively. On the other hand, the team didn’t have enough support from the bench, as they only scored 25 points.

Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant put up a combined 46 points, and the rest of the starting lineup only managed 19 points. This gives a clear picture that the Slim Reaper barely had any offensive support.

What exactly went wrong with Kevin Durant & Co.?

To be precise, everything went wrong. First of all, the team didn’t capitalize on the Jokic-less minutes on the court. Denver’s offensive rating drops from 122.4 to 97.6 whenever Joker heads to the bench. It was the time when the Phoenix side could’ve strangled the home team’s offense and improved their scoring rate. Instead, the Suns looked clueless and operated without any real direction. And like Kevin Durant said, the team had spurts of brilliance but couldn’t carry the momentum consistently.

On the other hand, the Suns’ defense looked all over the place. There was a period in the game when players looked as if they stood there and watched the ball go inside the bucket. Nevertheless, they have an opportunity to clean the mess as they take on the Nuggets once again on Wednesday. This time on their home court. Can Kevin Durant & Co. bounce back and shut down the Nuggets?
