The Toronto Raptors have welcomed a new guard who’s been proudly representing his nation like no other. With an impeccable undefeated record, Germany is steamrolling through its opponents – thanks to the remarkable skills of Dennis Schröder. Despite initial doubts among some fans when the Raptors signed the 6’1 guard, Schröder’s performances have been nothing short of spectacular, reminiscent of Luka Doncic or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Schröder is the difference maker for the Germans this year. For the first time in 7 career meetings, Germany defeated one of the top guns in the tournament, Australia. When comparing their matchup from 2 years ago at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Schröder’s absence can be clearly felt. It is safe to say that the German team has masterfully cultivated the crucial attribute of team chemistry. However, a recent incident challenges their team harmony.

During the thrilling FIBA World Cup 2023 showdown against Slovenia, tensions flared in the first quarter with 4:03 left on the clock, and Germany found themselves trailing 11-16. The source of the drama? A fiery exchange between German national team guard Dennis Schröder and head coach Gordon Herbert.

Dennis Schröder was seen engaged in a one-on-one chat with fellow NBA player Daniel Theis. At the same time, the German coach, Gordon Herbert, erupted in frustration, forcefully pulling Schröder and shouting, “Fu**ing sit down.” Not pleased with the coach’s treatment, Schroder resisted Gordon’s attempt to tug him while repeatedly asserting, “Calm down, Coach.”

Tensions rose as Gordon briefly referred to the importance of the timeout. The tense standoff concluded when Dennis firmly declared, “You’re not going to touch me like that.”

The fiery exchange added a gripping layer of drama to the moment. However, despite the dramatic standoff, Dennis Schröder eventually returned to the court with his teammates following the timeout, leaving fans eagerly awaiting their clash with Luka Doncic-led Slovenia.

Schröder earlier got in a dispute with Anthony Davis on Lakers

During the Los Angeles Lakers’ defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies on March 1, 2023, Anthony Davis and Dennis Schröder found themselves in a brief sideline argument. Unlike Schroder’s recent intense altercation with Team Germany, this conversation appeared to be centered on the challenges of the ongoing game. Even though there have been certain sources that claim to decipher the conversation between the two, the players have not yet spoken on their discussion.

While their discussion didn’t seem highly intense, it was evident that the Lakers weren’t executing their game plan as expected. Anthony Davis and Schroder were likely feeling the pressure to deliver a strong performance; especially with key teammates LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell missing.
