The Warriors are eyeing to top their group in the NBA in-season tournament and proceed to the playoffs. Steve Kerr’s boys are confident yet again after their 118-112 win against the Spurs. The Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyana failed to meet expectations, though. Having scored only 22 points from his 35 minutes of playing, the Spurs certainly wanted more from him.

Gary Payton II, on the other hand, is making quite the news after the match. He made himself part of a unique list.

Gary is now among the only five people to have successfully blocked the towering Wembanyama. In an X (formerly Twitter) post by the Warriors on NBCS, Gary was asked how he feels to be one of the few persons to block Wemby.

GP2 quickly interrupted the interviewer and said, “I’m probably the smallest.” He then laughed. GP2 believes that it is the block that made things going for the Warriors at that point. “I kind of think after that, kind of turned on the defense intensity, and you know, you got us getting stops, got running, got doing what we like to do in the offensive end,” he said.

Steph Curry scored an impressive 35 with 7 three-pointers that helped the Warriors gain the much-needed victory against the Spurs. After being down to 19-9 at one point, the Dubs stepped up massively. Apart from Curry, Dario Saric is a notable mention. The 29-year-old netted some crucial baskets at the right time.

Klay Thompson did wonders once again with his long rangers. With Draymond Green returning in the next match, the Warriors will inevitably get stronger. They face the Sacramento Kings on 29th November, in the final group-stage match.

Victor Wembanyama was a massive disappointment, though. The Spurs have high expectations from their 7’4 rookie. Unfortunately, he did not deliver on those barring the Suns match, where he scored 38. For the Spurs to do well, he needs to step up big-time.
