The talks just keep growing. It’s late in the offseason, and despite no movement, a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade from the Bucks isn’t written off yet. The Greek Freak, who has spent his entire NBA career in Wisconsin, is faced with a tough call. What he needs at this time is a safe haven. A place that Antetokounmpo knows will bring him peace.

That’s the same court where the two-time MVP first stepped to begin professional basketball. At just 19, Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brothers were playing for Filathlitikos in the second division. Amidst all the revolving drama, the Bucks cornerstone made a funny suggestion. “We can go back and play for Filathlitikos, one or two seasons, take them to the first division,” he told his brothers.

As much as it would be wholesome, Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn’t really suggesting he leave his stomping grounds in the NBA. However, that’s not to say the family doesn’t plan on doing so eventually. His younger brother, Kostas Antetokounmpo, hinted at the same during a recent interview.

“Let’s see what we can do. Maybe we will go to Filathlitikos and get them promoted to the Greek League,” the former Lakers center told Basket News.

It’s not a bad plan at all. All of the Antetokounmpo siblings are slated to enjoy basketball around the world for the rest of their careers. After such hard work, a meaningful effort to guide their boyhood club, Filathlitikos to the first division would be wonderful. But Giannis Antetokounmpo loves to live in the present.

At this moment, he has a few things on his mind. Of course, as Greece’s crown jewel, he is hopeful to enjoy a successful EuroBasket. The next thing to worry about is where he lands once he departs from the tournament to return for NBA action.

Giannis Antetokounmpo won’t compromise his loyalty

A lot has been said about Antetokounmpo’s future plans. Most recently, Shams Charania revealed that the situation hasn’t changed much. The former Finals MVP is evaluating his choices. However, the thought of leaving Milwaukee is one that isn’t easy to digest. With such a situation looming, you would think the Bucks organization is panicking.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo's loyalty to Milwaukee withstand another challenging season, or is a change inevitable?

Within their building, there is calmness. Nobody sees Giannis Antetokounmpo taking his talents elsewhere. Bobby Portis, a fan favorite, spoke about his relationship with the cornerstone recently. He doesn’t feel there is any other place in the NBA for Antetokounmpo.

Yeah, I talk to Giannis all the time. That’s my teammate… Giannis bleeds green. That’s all I can say,” Portis told ESPN Milwaukee.

From the outside looking in, nothing suggests Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to leave. Whenever the Greek Freak has spoken about it, he highlights what Milwaukee means to him. “I love Milwaukee,” those words on IShowSpeed’s stream in particular seemed to be the answer to the entire saga.

The franchise isn’t in its best form. The only way they could do well in the East is with a motivated Giannis Antetokounmpo. But let’s not understate how important next season will be. If it isn’t a success in comparison to the past few years, these conversations will start again. And at that time, Antetokounmpo could seriously consider leaving Wisconsin to chase his championship desires.
