Heart of gold and nerves of steel. It takes courage to face the world with a smile after a defeat. It takes every ounce of determination to emerge from the setbacks. But most importantly, it takes the support of every fan to come back stronger every time. For the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry, the 2024-25 NBA season is over. Things surely didn’t end on a happy note, but the lessons learned are priceless. But hey, not everything is black or grey in the Bay this time around!
The glory is back in San Francisco. Only this time, it’s not the athletes or precisely Steph who is bringing in rings or medals. He deserves some appreciation for helping the Bay in embracing this newfound victory. So, the update has come from San Francisco’s favorite voice, Kerith Burke. As the world waited for the 46th Sports Emmy Awards to unfold, good news dropped in for NBC.
Taking to her IG Story, NBC Sports Bay Area & California’s Burke told her 30.1K followers that she is a part of the group that has just won an Emmy for Paris Olympics coverage. This group also includes the Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade, Noah Eagles, Lachina Robinson, Zora Stephenson, and Josh Veltrie. This group also had Alex Haubenstock and Jake Somerville in the mix. Interestingly enough, the 58-year-old voice of the Bay, Bob Fitzgerald, who has served as the play-by-play announcer for the Golden State Warriors for 27 years, also covered Stephen Curry’s gold medal-winning run at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

NBCUniversal lit up the 46th Sports Emmy Awards with a dominant showing. Their coverage of the Paris Olympic Games claimed ten wins, including the crown jewel—Outstanding Live Special Championship Event. This moment marked a tie with their all-time record of thirteen wins set in 2003. From NFL playoff excellence to Telemundo Deportes’ Miguel Gurwitz earning his second Sports Emmy, NBCU’s presence proved powerful and heartfelt across the board.
Meanwhile, the night also honored the legacy. Peter Diamond, a guiding force behind NBC Olympics Programming, received the prestigious Gold Circle for fifty years of dedicated service. Rob Hyland, with over twenty five years behind Sunday Night Football and Olympic primetime, earned Silver Circle recognition. Their influence goes beyond screens—they shaped storytelling, mentored talent, and left lasting marks on sports television.
Now, coming back to Team USA and the Men’s Basketball team’s power run at the Olympics, had there been no Stephen Curry, the picture could’ve been different. Truly. Because, well, Serbia did pin them down in the semi-finals only for the Baby-Faced Assassin to rise to the occasion and take control of the game like he always does, like a pro.
Stephen Curry rewrote Team USA’s Olympic story in the semi-finals vs. Nikola Jokic’s Serbia
Team USA nearly saw its golden dream slip away in the 2024 Olympic semifinals. After sailing through the first four games, they stumbled into a storm against Serbia and Nikola Jokic. Serbia led for over 35 minutes and built a 17-point cushion. Heading into the final quarter down 13, the Americans looked shaken. But something changed. Grit replaced glamour. And the real battle had only just begun.

With the game slipping fast, Team USA flipped the switch in the final stretch. They outscored Serbia 32 to 15, erasing the deficit and taking control on a Stephen Curry three with just over two minutes left. Curry delivered a career-defining performance, scoring 36 points, just one shy of Carmelo Anthony’s Olympic record. LeBron James stepped up, too. Together, they pushed the USA past Serbia and into the gold medal game against host nation France, where Curry once again put up the best show with a 24-point performance to bring home the USA’s 5th gold in basketball and his first.

By 2025, the Warriors’ season ended too soon, but the echoes of his triumph still lingered. And as NBC turned those golden moments into Emmy-winning history, San Francisco found solace in the story that still shines.
