The season started on a good note for the Warriors, who now seem to have lost their spark. Holding a 17-18 record, the Dub Nation has trickled down to 4th position in the Pacific Division. They are coming off a 113-109 win over the Pistons and will host the Raptors tonight for their first showdown this season. As the Warriors gear up for tonight’s game, there has been uncertainty regarding forward Jonathan Kuminga showing up to the game.

Jonathan Kuminga might miss the game

After playing through a toe soreness, it shouldn’t be a surprise if Jonathan Kuminga sits this one out. Chris Paul (left-hand fracture) and Gary Payton II (left hamstring) are also out for at least a few upcoming games. So, tonight on the starting lineup, we can expect Stephen Curry, Klay Thomspon, Kevon Looney, Brandin Podziemski, and Draymond Green, who has been recently reinstated after serving a 12-game suspension.

This season, Kuminga has played 34 games and started 13, averaging 12.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. He started the game on Friday vs the Pistons and chipped in 11 points, six rebounds, and one assist. This came after he expressed his dissatisfaction with his role to HC Steve Kerr, following his 19-minute stint in Thursday’s 130-127 Nuggets loss.

Mending bridges between coach and player

A report surfaced earlier on Friday morning that Kuminga had lost faith that Coach Kerr can longer maximize his development. According to the report, “After sitting the final 18 minutes of Nuggets loss, Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga has lost faith in Steve Kerr and no longer believes that Kerr will allow him to reach his full potential.”

In the wake of this report, the two met in Coach Kerr’s office just before Friday’s game against the Pistons to address the issue and clear the air. This meeting went well as the young forward came out satisfied, “I think it went really well. I think it was just all about better understanding of each other. More communication….Just us having that conversation today made me more comfortable that any time I have something to ask, I should just go up to his office. His door is open.” Now that the misunderstandings have been resolved, one can hope Kuminga to give better performances as soon as he is healthy to join his teammates on the hardwood.

But what did you think of the Kuminga-Kerr situation? Let us know in the comments!
