Old habits die hard. If there’s a player who lives by this motto, it is Draymond Green. Following a five-game suspension in November stemming from an altercation with Rudy Gobert, Draymond Green faced further disciplinary action when he struck Suns’ center Jusuf Nurkić in the face just a month later. However, this time, the NBA suspended him indefinitely due to “Green’s reported history of unsportsmanlike conduct.” The NBA rescinded Draymond’s suspension after three weeks and 16 missed games.

After 21 missed games due to shuffle-related suspensions, one would assume that Draymond would mend his combative ways. However, that couldn’t be further away from the reality, as Draymond got into a heated altercation with Grizzlies’ forward Vince Willaims Jr. during their recent encounter. Draymond appeared to elbow Vince Williams while setting a screen for Stephen Curry. He also apparently said, “You’re not tough” to Vince Williams.

However, Draymond and Vince appeared to have hashed out their differences during the fourth quarter of the match. But this is not an isolated incident of Draymond’s confrontational behavior. Just a week prior, Green appeared to have struck Anthony Davis in the face while contesting for the ball, resulting in Draymond receiving a technical foul.

Despite the optimistic expectations of some fans for a positive transformation in Draymond’s behavior, his combative approach has proven effective over his 13-year NBA career. His aggressive style and tenacity have played a pivotal role in the Warriors clinching four NBA titles in nine seasons. But can he lead the Warriors to yet another NBA title this season?

Can Draymond and the Warriors prove their doubters wrong?

The Golden State Warriors are having a horrid 2023-24 season. Before the start of the season, fans were expecting the Warriors to make a push for another NBA title. However, things haven’t gone according to the script for the Dubs. With less than 40 games remaining in the regular season, the Warriors currently occupy the 12th spot in the Western Conference standings, with a below .500 record.

Many fans and analysts have already written off the Warriors’ chances of securing an NBA title. However, a team of the Warriors’ caliber and pedigree should never be written off. They have consistently defied skeptics in the past. Despite their subpar performances this season, the Dubs have the potential to embark on a winning streak and secure a playoff spot.
