Have you ever attended an important event or function, but your mind was simply too distracted to give your full attention to it? If you did, then you are certainly human. Such things can happen, even when you are attending a wholesome occurrence like a concert. It was one of the things that distracted Malika Andrews and Draymond Green’s wife, respectively, even with a Best Country Album winner in front of them.
The ESPN Sports reporter recently took to her official Instagram account to put up a post. The same highlighted her and her younger sister, Kendra Andrews, attending Beyonce’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ concert, that recently took place in the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The sisters’ excitement at attending the event could be seen in how they came cosplaying as cowboys. However, amongst the several pictures and videos that Malika highlighted on her post, one of them included the reporter watching the Golden State Warriors vs the Houston Rockets Game 4 matchup on her phone.
The playoff game was going on at the same time as the concert, and Malika wasn’t there to cover it from her side. Therefore, whether it was her professional curiosity acting up, or she was experiencing a bout of FOMO, the 30-year-old ESPN personality just couldn’t help herself. She had to check out the score even while the 35x Grammy Award Winner was performing right in front of her, in all her glory.

As it turns out, Malika Andrews wasn’t the only one to do so.
Soon after the post was put up, Draymond Green’s wife, Hazel Renee, reacted by taking to the comments section. Instead of reacting to the awesomeness of the ‘Cowboy Carter’ concert as a whole, she reacted to the above-discussed picture of Malika by writing, “Same with the game watching at the show!!! I know people was looking at me like what is happening here lmboo”. Woah!

No one can blame either of the two for taking a sneak peek at the score of the NBA game while attending the concert. For Malika, what happens in the matchup determines how she covers it the next day during her recurring segment of NBA Today on ESPN. She wouldn’t want to come unprepared while Stephen A. Smith, Bob Myers, Kendrick Perkins, and Shams Charania give their viewpoints on how the game went, and what it could mean for the Warriors/Rockets future. Furthermore, basketball is her niche and interest, and Game 4 was an important matchup that could not have been missed fully.
As for Hazel Renee, does she require an excuse? After all, her husband was battling on the court to ensure the Houston Rockets do not tie the win score 2-2 with the Warriors. Furthermore, the importance of the game was seen in how tension had risen amongst the players, especially with Draymond Green. The Warriors’ power forward’s antics had resulted in him receiving 1 technical foul, along with three personal fouls.

As 2:44 minutes remained in the 2nd quarter, Draymond Green and Tari Eason fell after colliding with each other. Green followed that incident by pulling at the Rockets player’s jersey, locking the rival’s leg with his legs, and even grabbing the leg with his hands. Green’s actions were deemed “unnecessary,” and the player was assessed a Flagrant 1 Foul.
Therefore, concern for how the Warriors veteran had been going throughout the game would have compelled Renee to check the live matchup. However, another reason for her checking the game would be to see just how much Green destabilized the family’s financial condition. If the past is an indication, then Renee keeps a close eye on those fouls for financial reasons.
Hazel Renee once joked about Draymond Green’s technical fouls: “There Goes ‘the Wedding Fund’”
Back in July-August 2022, Draymond Green and Hazel Renee were about to embark on the next chapter of their life. The couple were unable to get married back in 2020, as they had planned, and the wedding was delayed to 2 years later. Under normal circumstances, this would have given any couple more time to save up money that could be splurged on the wedding. However, Draymond Green had placed himself in a bit of a financial pit in the 2021-22 season.
After all, the Warriors’ power forward had led the league in technical fouls, recording 14 in the tournament. According to reports, for the first two technical fouls, players receive a $1,000 fine. The amount increases by $500 at different levels until capping at $2,500. Flagrant fouls, meanwhile, cost a player up to $15,000 in fines.
Draymond Green securing this record was too big of a story to ignore. Therefore, it wasn’t a surprise when Hazel Renee was questioned about it when she walked the red carpet at the 2022 ESPY Awards. Without any hesitation, she joked that the losses were nothing but “money down the drain.”
“There’s the wedding budget right there,” said Renee. “If anyone wants to know where’s the wedding budget, it’s right there in text.”

Despite the remarks, Hazel Renee and Draymond Green’s wedding was the definition of ‘grand’. The couple tied the knot at San Diego’s Fairmont Grand Del Mar. The path to the altar began with a family helicopter ride! Rappers DaBaby and Roddy Ricch were called on to perform at the reception. Even cannabis party favors were given out! Described as the “Golden San Diego Ceremony”, the guest list for the wedding included everyone from LeBron James and Savannah, Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife, Kentavious and McKenzie Caldwell-Pope, and several members of the Curry clan.
Good thing Draymond Green had saved up!
