In recent years, Dallas Mavericks vs Phoenix Suns has become one of the most entertaining and enthralling games of the league and yesterday’s game between the two teams didn’t disappoint. Devin Booker went off, as he recorded a 46-point performance to lead the Suns to a 132-109 victory over the Mavericks. Despite Luka Doncic’s 34-point performance, the Mavs succumbed because of poor defense.

In a post-match interview, Doncic praised Booker for his impressive performance. However, he claimed that Mavs’ defense was the reason behind Booker’s exceptional performance. He said, “It was our defense. I think Book (Devin Booker) went off; he couldn’t miss, and he destroyed us. I think it was our defense.”

While the Mavs were poor defensively, they also had the added disadvantage of playing without the likes of Kyrie Irving and Dwight Powell. Despite missing Kyrie, the Mavs held the lead going into the halftime. However, a dismal 3rd quarter performance in which the Suns outscored the Mavs by 23 points shifted the momentum. The Mavericks’ recent loss to the Suns extends their losing streak to three games, while the Suns continue their impressive form, as they have won their last seven games. However, Suns’ seven-game winning streak wasn’t the biggest takeaway from the game, as Luka’s interaction with a fan grabbed the headlines.

Luka’s unsavory interaction with a fan

Devin Booker’s 46-point performance wasn’t the only notable highlight of the game, as Luka Doncic was involved in a less-than friendly interaction with a fan. In the third quarter, a fan yelled “LUKA YOU TIRED, GET ON THE TREADMILL!”, to which Luka asked the security to remove the fan from the game. In a post-match interview, Luka gave an explanation of the incident. He said, “I never would eject a fan. They pay for tickets. But I had enough, he was cursing me the whole first half, too. A little bit of frustration.”

Luka also went on to criticize ESPN reporter Tim MacMohan for the way he covered the Luka-fan altercation. Luka said, “I saw you when you said about the fan. It was not true at all. It was not the only thing he said. But I knew you would be the first to point out something like that… It’s just funny. You always seem to be the first one to put some bad stuff about me.”
