The matchups between Stephen Curry and LeBron James are something every NBA fan has their eyes on. Few players can capture the imagination of fans around the globe like Curry and LeBron do. However, with both players being 35-plus, their time in the NBA is limited. So fans cherish every moment the two legends face off. And ESPN analyst Shannon Sharpe did the same during the recent match between the LA Lakers and the Warriors.

Yesterday, the Golden State Warriors faced the Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena. In a fiercely competitive match, the Dubs came out as winners by a scoreline of 128-121. Both Steph and LeBron James delivered stellar performances and were the leading point scorers for their teams. However, Shannon Sharpe uploaded a post-game video of himself holding a signed pair of Curry sneakers from Stephen Curry himself. This video caused a stir on social media, as fans began trolling Sharpe for switching allegiances from LeBron James to Curry. Nevertheless, Shannon Sharpe fired back at online trolls through his X account. He wrote, “You can only be a fan of 1 player? Sounds pretty ridiculous 2 me.”

Sharpe’s post-game actions surprised fans because he is an ardent supporter of the Los Angeles Lakers. He even got into a heated altercation with Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies during a match with the Lakers in early 2023. Furthermore, Sharpe has expressed admiration for LeBron James and his legacy on numerous occasions. So, that’s why several fans were shocked to see Sharpe fanboying over Stephen Curry.  Despite Sharpe’s response to the trolling, fans have embraced the narrative of him shifting loyalties from LeBron to Curry.

It would be an understatement to say that the video of Shannon Sharpe getting his hands on Curry’s match-worn sneakers has taken the internet by storm. Within hours after the game, several media outlets covered the story. This only served to amplify the narrative that online trolls had been attempting to propagate. One X user even hilariously stated that Sharpe was fearful that LeBron James might catch him in the act.

The sentiment was further echoed by another fan who said that Sharpe was being careful of a watchful LeBron James.

However, another user expressed dissatisfaction seeing Shannon Sharpe, a millionaire, waiting for Curry and receiving something for free that he could easily buy.

A fan criticized Sharpe for consistently speaking negatively about Steph, yet still receiving signed sneakers from him.
