If there is a player who can hit clutch shots time and again, it is Damian Lillard. Over his illustrious 12-season career, Dame has been the difference maker on countless occasions, and yesterday Lillard enhanced his reputation with another buzzer-beater. In a fiercely contested game against the Sacramento Kings, Dame’s heroics again proved to be the difference, as the Bucks secured another win. This crucial victory over the Kings further established the Bucks as favorites for the title.

In light of Dame’s heroics, JJ Redick and Anfernee Simons recalled their favorite ‘Dame-Time’ moments in a recent episode of Redick’s podcast.

In the first round of the 2021 playoffs, Damian Lillard went off and scored 55 points in game five of the series. This performance became one of the most iconic Dame performances of all time. In the latest episode of Redick’s podcast, The Old Man and The Three, JJ Redick picked this as his favorite Damian Lillard moment. During a conversation with Dame’s former teammate, Anfernee Simons, Redick said, “There’s obviously those singular moments, OKC shot, the shot to beat the Houston Rockets in the playoffs. But that stretch were like, he snatched their soul. That to me was my favorite moment.” However, despite Dame’s 55-point performance, the Blazers eventually lost the game by a scoreline of 140-147.

Coming back to the present, the Bucks took their wins tally to 28 wins, which is the second-best record after the Boston Celtics. The Bucks’s close-fought victory over the Kings has further cemented them as favorites for the title. They currently occupy the 2nd spot in the Eastern Conference standings, with 28 wins and just 12 defeats. However, there is still a long way to go and the Bucks need to continue their excellent performances. With Dame and Giannis in their squad, there are high hopes that the Bucks can win their 2nd NBA title in four seasons.

Can the Bucks win the 2024 NBA title?

After a disappointing 2023 postseason in which they lost in the first round to the Miami Heat, the Bucks would be eager to prove their doubters wrong. So far, the Bucks have been one of the most formidable teams in the league. However, they still need to iron out some weaknesses. Despite possessing defensive stalwarts like Giannis and Brook Lopez, the Bucks have become one of the worst defensive teams in the league.

Currently, the Bucks have the 12th-worst defense in the NBA, with a defensive rating of 117. No one could have imagined that trading away Jrue Holiday could have such an adverse impact on their defense. But, addressing defensive shortcomings is imperative for the Bucks, as shoring up this aspect could be the pivotal factor determining whether they clinch an NBA title or experience another letdown despite a season filled with promise.
