It’s been a while since the Minnesota Timberwolves made a move in the market. The last season’s Western Conference finalist had been saving their final spot on the roster, as they continued to weigh their options. Chris Finch and Co. know just how important the upcoming 2025-26 season is for the franchise and want to maximize their potential, as they’ve failed to get past the last hurdle in back-to-back seasons. Keeping that in mind, they decided to hand out their last spot to their trusted soldier.

After months of contemplation, the T-Wolves finally executed the move that we already saw coming. Recently, Wolves Insider Jon Krawczynski reported that Minnesota has agreed to a deal with Bones Hyland to complete their roster for the new campaign. “Bones Hyland has his full agreement with the Wolves in place, per league sources. The Wolves chose him over other candidates to add depth to the guard rotation,” Krawczynski wrote. While it’s great news for the Wolves faithful, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
That’s because while the front office was exploring all sorts of options to improve their guard depth– from Malcolm Brogdon to Landry Shamet– Hyland was the one who stood out the most. Even though someone like Brogdon would’ve contested for a starting spot, Bones Hyland made so much sense because he spent the entire last season with the team. Not only that, he was also a much more reserved option, given that he’ll be comfortable playing behind the likes of Mike Conley, Donte DiVincenzo, and others.

However, don’t let the fact that the 25-year-old is comfortable playing from the bench fool you from the fact that just how good addition he actually is. Across the years, Hyland has spent in the league, he’s suited up for 186 games, in which he boasts a solid average of 9.5 points per game while shooting 40 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep. While the Wolves have announced that Bones Hyland is returning for another stint with the storied franchise, he hasn’t reported the details of his contract.

Nonetheless, it’s safe to assume that he’s got at least a one-year deal. After all, he’s got a lot of potential and can emerge as a real scoring bag for Chris Finch’s team down the road. Moreover, he will be a real help for Anthony Edwards, who has had a massive realization this offseason, after back-to-back heartbreaks in the Western Conference Finals, as he hopes to not only improve but also take his team finally past the Conference Finals.

Anthony Edwards has had a huge personal revelation this summer
There’s no doubt that Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards is the next big thing in the NBA. In fact, many would argue that given the legends he’s already gotten the better of, he’s also the present of the league. However, despite earning the reputation of the “Legend Killer” he did by eliminating the likes of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James, Edwards has failed to guide his team to the NBA Finals for the past two seasons.
That’s why this offseason, the 24-year-old shooting guard has decided to take a moment and reflect on the last few seasons and assess what went wrong, and this has prompted Ant to lock in and take the next step in his career. He’s so serious that Wolves Insider Jon Krawczynski has reported the guard has refused to use social media and is solely focused on training. “He has been off the social media grid and working on his game,” Krawczynski said.
What’s your perspective on:
Did the Timberwolves make the right call by choosing Bones Hyland over other guard options?
Have an interesting take?
“He hasn’t had any international play this summer for the first time in a couple of years, which I think really allowed him to just buckle down and look at what he has done well, but also what he still needs to do. He was pretty forthright after the loss of the Thunder in the Western Conference finals that he’s still got a big step to make to get to the level of a Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) or a Luka (Doncic). I think he came into this summer believing that it’s still a little too easy to take him away from the game and to make it hard on him.”

The reporter further revealed that Anthony Edwards is doing everything in his power to take his game to the next level. While there’s no doubt about his talent, Ant has struggled with a few of the defenses used on him last season, like the one that OKC used. Now, having seen how teams are trying to stop him, the shooting guard has been working all summer with his trainers on how to break those defenses. Not just that, he’s also becoming a much more vocal leader for the new campaign.

This realization that he still has a lot to prove and improve has led to Anthony Edwards working hard throughout the offseason. Well, that’s great news for the Minnesota fans, who already love and adore their superstar and know just how much talent he has. Now, it seems like Ant is hungrier than ever and is not just aiming to beat his idols, but is also here to take the crown. Will his hard work and realization finally pay off and lead him and the Wolves past the Conference Finals? That’s something we all have to wait and watch.
