A hobbling Anthony Davis put up a fight tonight as the Los Angeles Lakers trailed the entirety of regulation. Davis suffered a minor setback in the fourth quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks, forcing the medical staff to address his left knee on the sidelines. However, Davis steered through the pain. As he sank a clutch three on a limping leg, the Lakers successfully averted a tough stomping; forcing 1st OT.

Moreover, the Lakers’ first lead of the game came off in OT, during a team run sparked by Anthony Davis’ three to even the game. As the remainder of the team gradually fell into place behind AD’s leadership, Davis posted 34 points, 23 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks.

When talking about Davis’ courage, head coach Darvin Ham resonated that the center was seeking medical attention during each stop of the game; timeouts, reviews, fouls, etc. Moreover, Ham claims that Davis promised him he would elevate his game despite the state. In the post-game interview, Ham said, “He assured me he was going to push through … kudos to him, he played his ass off.”

Davis was the Bucks’ prime target ever since the beginning of the game, primarily due to the lack of leadership on the floor. LeBron James was sitting out of the contest due to resurfacing of his ankle issues. Regardless, as the entire Lakers crew failed to sink a bucket, Davis scored 15 of the Lakers’ 16 points, all while nearing a double-double in the first 12 minutes (8 rebounds).

Davis’ takeover injected a fresh breeze of energy into the crew, forcing them to contribute on the scoreboard. With that, AD could maneuver his way through the tough hounding and screens by the Bucks, all while focusing more on the defensive end.

With those, the current game, due to the odds, effort, comeback, and the heavy 52-minute load endured by AD, makes it his best outing against the Bucks. The game forced Anthony Davis to put it all out on the floor. From spearheading the Lakers early in the game and creating a defensive cushion for the roster to fall on, to testing his talents from the three (8 attempts – most this season) and playing through a potential injury.
