It’s no surprise that the current NBA is in the midst of a super-team era. It goes back to the 2008 Celtics to currently the Phoenix Suns or even the Boston Celtics themselves. NBA fans stand divided by the concept. While some believe the biggest stars playing together brings more excitement other than the fact that it cuts down the competitiveness in this league.
For them, this year’s playoffs could just be an experience of thrilling. Barring the Celtics, no ‘super team’ is left in the fight for the NBA title. Not just that but those sides which were built from the roots of nothing like the Oklahoma City Thunder are prevailing magnificently. Yet the sheer power scales Boston is operating on compels people to fear them.
Boston fans, on the contrary, are enjoying the success. Having marginally missed out on winning a chip in 2021, they are hoping their franchise can finally break the streak this season. Recently, world-famous comedian Bill Burr made an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show. Notably, he too is an ardent Shamrocks fan. That’s the reason it came as a surprise when he didn’t even mention them when speaking of the playoffs.

Bill Burr ignores the Celtics and praises the Timberwolves
Dan Patric was reminiscing about the night Magic Johnson hit a sky hook game-winner in the Boston Garden in 1987. Recalling the locker room atmosphere and the jubilation of the Lakers, he celebrated the era. Shockingly, Burr blamed that and the Michael Jordan era for the birth of super teams.

“I actually that whole era is what influenced the super teams now. Because that became so successful and they passed NFL football on the level of popularity I think. I believe that when Bird Magic was getting older, they had Jordan. And then when Jordan I think they were like ‘What is our brand now?” he told Patrick.
According to him, the success of the 2008 Celtics paved the way for the culture to grow. It eventually infected the entire NBA. Burr feels it was the need to pile championships as the reason behind the widespread of the trend. The comedian has never liked such an attitude. In fact, he admitted enjoying the success of the Denver Nuggets last season since it was a team built by nurturing talent and forming a true brotherhood.

“What happened last year with the Nuggets, I think, was the best thing that happened for the NBA for a while. I like the Spurs, that Pistons team in the early 2000s was a good one. And watching like how scary are the Timberwolves?”, Bill Burr said strongly.

Even though he is a devotee of the Celtics to the point he despises the Lakers, Burr didn’t mention the Celtics once. It could be because they suffered defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers only hours prior. Or it could be because deep down he is rooting for the underdogs.
