Following the setback in the FIBA World Cup 2023, the country of the USA looks determined to make a comeback. The biggest NBA names, such as Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, have already expressed their desire to represent Team USA. The national team supporters celebrated the news as the superstars set their sights on the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Amidst the hype, a Sacramento Kings All-Star abandoned the chances recently. His comments took everyone by surprise as he deserted Team USA’s honor.

The former Golden State Warriors duo locked in their focus on the upcoming Summer Olympics with their recent activities. In the midst of this, De’Aaron Fox also became a contender to represent the national side on the global stage. Upon being asked about his chances of joining the squad, the talisman of Sacramento answered, “I have no idea”.

The 25-year-old refused to talk about it “Right now, in this very moment” with a new NBA season approaching. Fox expressed his opinion, saying, “I really don’t care what’s going on with Team USA,” on the media day. His comments took everyone aback right before he refused to rule out the possibility in the time ahead.

“In the future, it could change,” the point guard mentioned, highlighting his tunnel vision for the upcoming campaign. So, he stated, “I’m not thinking about it,” while pointing out the relativity of his statement. After a marvelous last season, De’Aaron’s name was supposed to be in the mix as the fans looked forward to the answer.

After expanding his influence on the league in the past couple of years, everything worked out perfectly for Fox in the 2022/23 campaign. He became a dependable asset for the roster, as his numbers showcased the same. The 2023 All-Star improved his abilities as his free throw percentage and rebounds per game increased.

Alongside that, he scored his career-high regular season total points, missing out only nine games in that period. Shooting 51.2% from the field, his contributions helped the franchise reach the playoffs for the first time in 16 years. For his ability to change the momentum of the matches, the NBA even awarded him the Clutch Player of the Year.

So, the NBA supporters would love to see him in the squad alongside the other big names like Curry and Durant. The national team fans could rest easy if they see Fox running plays from the backcourt. But to get an answer to whether it would happen, we must wait for a couple more months.
