Stephen Curry will be lighting up the 2024 Paris Olympics! Sources report that Curry is one of the 11 players Team USA has finalized for its roster. Beginning on 26 July, the event will mark Chef Curry’s debut on the global stage, allowing him to add to his 4 NBA rings. Curry’s inclusion will give America an edge, as teams across the world are beginning to match the dominant talent lately. Now, as fans celebrate the addition, a clip from the Warriors‘ 2022 victory march is resurfacing, highlighting Curry and Steve Kerr’s long-time intention.

During the parade, Steph was jokingly asked if finally winning a Finals MVP makes him good. To that, Steph hilariously cited, “No I’m not good yet. Coz I gotta play for coach Kerr in 24 in Paris.” As Curry’s comments sparked anticipation amongst fans, he immediately continued, “That wasn’t that I’m gonna do it. That was just what he said.” As wheels rotate towards Curry’s Olympic debut, it seems like Steph has had ample to think about it. Just like Team USA’s selection panel aims to gain an upper hand by including the player that revolutionized modern-day basketball.

Moreover, much like Curry’s Warriors roster, he will have a handful of superstars alongside him. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Jason Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Anthony Davis, Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, Bam Adebayo, and Tyrese Haliburton reportedly make up the remaining 10 roster spots. However, with the 12th spot still vacant, can Curry get one of his Golden State teammates into the mix?

Team USA’s demands from the Paris Olympics are clear, a gold and possibly a dominating run throughout the stretch. With that, filling the final 12th spot becomes more complicated, mostly because of a handful of talent to choose from. According to a report by the Athletic, Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard is the leading the candidacy, alongside his 2-way teammate Paul George. Mikal Bridges, Paolo Banchero, and Jalen Brunson are also the frontrunners. However, there are still players worthy of the spot, based on their potential impact and past Team USA experience.

Kyrie Irving is one of the fan favorites. Despite being on the other side of Stephen Curry in the NBA, Kyrie has a good rapport with the Chef. Moreover, he also has a gold from the 2016 Summer Olympics to boost his chances.

Additionally, Damian Lillard is also in the run when looking at point guards. The Milwaukee Bucks guard has the ability to shoot lights out like Stephen Curry, with more recent gold medal experience than Irving (Tokyo Olympics).

Moreover, if the selection panel feels content with Steph and Haliburton at the point, Curry’s teammate Draymond Green can see his name pop up. The 34-year-wing is a defensive anchor for the Warriors, with a solid bond with LeBron and Durant. Moreover, he is one of the only four active NBA players to have 2 Olympic gold medals.
